Budschuh Cracks Aces to Survive

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

After a preflop confrontation that resulted in a three-way all in, Josh Knight rolled over two aces - the {A-Spades} and the {A-Hearts}, to show that he was dominating his opponents. Another short stacked player tabled {3-Clubs}{3-Spades} while Rodney Budschuh, also all in for his tournament life, flipped over {Q-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}.

Knight was looking to scoop a sizable pot if his aces kept the lead. It looked as if this would be the case after the {10-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} flop hit the felt. The {7-Clubs} on the turn changed nothing, as Knight was still out in front with his bullets.

The river, however, brought the {Q-Clubs} down onto the felt with a thud which allowed several table members to release gasps while Budschuh bellowed in celebration. Budschuh was able to drag in the main pot and survive with 24,000 in chips. Knight's aces were still better than the third players treys, though, which allowed him to grab the side pot.
