Welcome to the 2014 Summer Slam Series!

Hello and welcome to PokerNews' live coverage of the 2014 Summer Slam series in Niagara Falls, New York! For the next 10 days we’ll be on the floor of the Seneca Poker Room providing up-to-the-minute updates from five of the seven events on the schedule.

The 2014 Summer Slam begins this morning at 11 a.m. ET with Event #1, a $200 no-limit hold'em deepstack turbo event. Each player will receive 25,000 in chips and the blind levels will increase every 20 minutes. Registration will remain open for the first six levels and player may reenter during the first nine levels. The one-day tournament will end when a champion is crowned later this evening.

Today’s event is only the beginning of an exciting series here in Niagara Falls. As always, the Summer Slam is highlighted by the $600 Main Event running from August 1-3. The tournament features two starting flights and a $100,000 guaranteed prize pool. Last year, Buffalo native Andy Spears took down the Summer Slam Main Event for $23,000. Spears is expected to be in attendance this year along with 2014 WSOP bracelet winner Jonathan Dimmig, recent Western New York Poker Challenge champion Nick Walker, and many others.

Also featured on the schedule this year is a $125 buy-in no-limit hold'em event with a $50,000 prize pool. The tournament will feature six separate starting flights across three days (July 28-30), and those who advance on Day 1 will return on July 31 to play down to a champion.

PokerNews will be activating the MyStack App for each event we are covering, allowing players to directly update their chip counts in the PokerNews blog using their iPhone or Android phone. We'll have more information about how to use My Stack once the action gets underway.

The Summer Slam kicks off shortly, so don’t go anywhere!
