Event #5 of the 2014 Seneca Niagara Summer Slam came to a close Thursday night in Niagara Falls, New York. The $125 tournament featured six separate starting flights and a $50,000 guaranteed prize pool which was smashed on Tuesday. A total of 757 entries created a prize pool of more than $70,000 with $15,821 going to the winner.

As it turned out, 10 players shared a piece of that top prize. When the 10-handed final table was reached the tournament staff ran ICM numbers at the request of the players, and eventually an even chop was agreed on with some outside deals made between a few on the side.

After the money was settled, eight of the final tablists decided to play for the title (Sahar Khajavi and Jonathan Reid left and their stacks were forfeited). After a couple hours it was Doug Cloud taking it down, defeating Paul Takano heads-up when his {J-Clubs}{J-Hearts} bested Takanos {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} on the final hand.

The day began with 145 survivors from the first six flights of the tournament. The top 72 spots were set to make the money, and within two hours nearly half the field was gone. The money bubble burst when Jason Nablo called all in with the {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs} but his hand failed to hold up against the {10-Hearts}{9-Clubs} of Corey Regnier.

Several notables finished in the money but fell short of the final table, including Alex Rivera, Jeff Joseph, Rayshawn Smalls, and DJ MacKinnon, who bowed out in 12th place.

Following MacKinnon out the door on the final table bubble was Chris Trybus. Aaron Brown opened to 100,000 from the button and Trybus shoved for more than 300,000 from the big blind. Brown sat in the tank for more than a minute before committing his stack.

Brown: {K-Clubs}{10-Hearts}
Tybus: {9-Clubs}{9-Spades}

"Come on," Trybus yelled as the dealer rolled out a {A-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{K-Spades} flop. It didn't get any better as the {2-Diamonds} and {5-Diamonds} completed the board, leaving Trybus with only 30,000 in his stack. He was all in on the next hand with the {A-Hearts}{K-Spades} against Blake Napierala's {5-Hearts}{6-Spades} but the board ran out {6-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{4-Spades}{J-Spades}{10-Clubs} to end Trybus' tournament.
