Who Will Win the Belt?
Welcome back to PokerNews' coverage of the 2014 Seneca Niagara Summer Slam Main Event! After two Day 1 starting flights attracted a total of 369 entries, only 49 will return at noon ET Sunday to play down to a winner and the $47,000 top prize.
Leading the way going into Day 2 is Alex Rivera with 379,000 in chips. Rivera dominated the later stages of the Day 1a flight after hitting two huge draws; he needed two bags to hold all of his chips at the end of play. The only other player to cross 300,000 was Ray Book, but several talented players will bring healthy stacks back including 2014 WSOP bracelet winner Jonathan Dimmig and two-time Summer Slam champ Joe Ciffa.
Today's action will begin with 20 minutes remaining in Level 15 with the blinds at 2,000/4,000/500. With 49 remaining and the top 36 being paid it shouldn't take long to burst the bubble. Several players will take short stacks into the day hoping to double up early and sneak into contention.
Our Day 2 coverage begins at noon, so stay tuned for all the action from the floor of the Seneca Poker Room!
