Buck Ramsay Wins Western New York Poker Challenge Warm-Up Feature Event!
The Feature Event at the 2017 Western New York Poker Challenge Warm-Up series is over and Buck Ramsay has taken it down for $18,302*. Ramsay came fresh off a deep WPT run at Fallsview Casino, finishing in eighth place for $42,713 and was clearly hungry for a win, taking down this event just a day later.
The tournament completed after 16 hours and 18 spots paid for a total prize pool of $84,977, exceeding the $50,000 guarantee!

The final table began with Lue Huang in the lead and Brian Bone coming in as the short stack. After a short while, Rob Burgstahler was the first casualty at the final table in 10th place at the hands of Kristan Mackiewicz. Next up was Joe O'Keefe in ninth place after he got his chips in with ace-queen but was no match for Dave Grana's ace-king.
The eighth-place finisher was Andy Fitting. He was quiet for much of the day and eventually lost a flip to Ramsay to send him home. Next to go in seventh was Bill Snead who shoved queen high into Bone's ace high, pocketing a nice payday for laddering up.
Six-handed play went on for a while, and eventually, Grana ran into a cooler when he turned top pair but it turned out [Removed:339] had flopped a straight. Grana held the lead for several levels until he lost a couple of big pots along the way. Ramsay won a massive hand with ace-king against Huang's ace-queen to cripple him and take over the chip lead, eventually busting him in fifth place in the next hand with a set of deuces.
Fourth place belonged to the lone woman at the final table, Kristan Mackiewicz. She battled throughout the entire final table and eventually got it in with ace-king to [Removed:340]'s ace-queen. Things were looking good until [Removed:340] flopped two pair and sent her to the rail. Bone laddered up very nicely, finding his way to third place and losing with ace high against Ramsay's king high after he rivered two pair.
Buck Ramsay and eventual runner-up [Removed:339] came to an agreement on the break since they were close in chips. [Removed:340] had 2,463,000 chips and Ramsay had 2,388,000. They negotiated a deal where [Removed:340] took $19,000 and second place and Ramsay pocketed $18,302 and the win.
