Matt Ahrens Bags Second Overall Stack After Day 1d Concludes

All the bullets have been fired as Day 1d wrapped up the qualifying flights for Event #2: $200 No-Limit Hold'em $50,000 Guarantee. Another 190 entries were received before registration with 28 survivors joining the field on Day 2.
Day 1d drew a total of 190 entries to bring the overall total to 670. Though the number is not yet official, the prize pool should be over $100,000. More than double the guarantee.
After 14 levels of play, Matt Ahrens was the top stack in the room boasting 287,200 in his stack by the time the last card came off the deck. Which also gives him the second-best overall stack heading into Day 2.
Tom Smolinski finished slightly behind Ahrens due in large part to a massive pot on the final hand of the night. Smolinski picked up pocket aces and had two players shove into him with pocket queens and pocket jacks. Smolinski scooped the pot to score a near triple up and end the night with 233,800.
Sam DeSabio (198,500), [Removed:339] (194,300), Jack Kerr (184,900), Justin Stratton (171,500), Lew Pizza (165,000), Raymond Larouech (121,900), Jason Clarke (115,900), Shawn Wilmot (114,500) round out the players who were able to cross the 100k mark.
Unfortunately, for the likes of DJ MacKinnon, Anne Jones, Matt Marcinkiewicz, Mike Rellinger, Jason Nablo, Blake Napierala, Brett Colson, David Battaglia, and Jordan Lagano, their final bullets missed the mark and they will have to wait to the next event to trophy hunt.
The remaining players will all converge on Sunday for Day 2 where they will play down to a winner with cards in the air at noon. For anyone else not involved, the Summer Slam 2018 rolls on with Event #3: $150 No-Limit Hold'em kicking off at 1 p.m boasting a $10,000 guarantee.
