French TV Star Moundir Zoughari Among Big Stacks After Day 1c
The 2024 World Series of Poker Circuit Sanremo €1,000 Main Event set a new record at Casinò Sanremo. After last year’s 906 entries, this year’s edition recorded 1,050 entrants.
This number was reached thanks to an impressive Day 1c, which drew 442 entries by itself. In the early levels of the day, a few big stacks were built, but since the dinner break, one man had his name on the top of the chip counts: none other than French TV star Moundir Zoughari.
Well-known for his participation in the French version of Survivor, he also has an ever-growing passion for poker. Among other results, he has cashed several WSOP events, including the 2018 WSOP Main Event. In his chase for a third poker win, he bagged a massive stack of 713,000 chips.
He is third in chips out of the 111 players who qualified for Day 2 through Day 1c, only surpassed by Jean-Marc Chiba (750,000), who won a half-million chip pot after the dinner break, and Serge Monier (759,000).

Despite being one of the first players eliminated today, Isabel Baltazar reentered the tournament and finished with 327,000 chips. This is slightly less than Jérémy Palvini (350,000), but still better than Nathan Tetart (320,000), for example.
Erich Tedeschi’s day looked like a rollercoaster, as he reached almost 300,000 chips at one point before declining. He eventually bagged 184,000, along with Alan Bono (171,000), WSOP bracelet winner Antonin Teisseire (165,000), and Alexandre Le Vaillant (135,000), who won the WSOP-C Cannes Main Event for €94,290 last April.
More than an hour after Day 1c ended, Day 1d Turbo ended with 38 remaining players out of a field of 155 entrants. Antonio Scalzi is the chip leader with 578,000 chips, followed by last year's EPT Prague finalist Umberto Ruggeri (510,500).
Tomorrow's Day 2 will see the fields combine, with 262 survivors from the four starting flights. The action will resume on Level 12, featuring blinds at 1,500/3,000 and a 3,000 big blind ante. Levels will be 60 minutes in length and the money bubble will burst during the day. Payouts will be revealed at the beginning of the day at 1 p.m. local time.
