Tyler Caspers Eliminated in 15th Place ($3,972)

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Tyler Caspers
Tyler Caspers

Action folded to Tyler Caspers, who if you recall finished third in the MSPT Season 5 opener at Running Aces in Minnesota, and he moved all in for roughly 100,000 on the button. Mark Johnson called him from the small blind, and Dash Dudley folded from the big.

Caspers: {a-}{3-}
Johnson: {a-}{7-}

Both players held a weak aces, and that meant there was a decent chance of a chop. Unfortunately for Caspers, that didn't turn out to be the case as the board ran out low and clean, allowing Johnson's kicker to play. Caspers will take home $3,972 for his 15th-place finish.

Let's Play for a Million

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Taylor Tollefson opened for 35,000 and cleared the field all the way around to JC Chen, who three-bet to 160,000 from the big blind. Tollefson responded by moving all in, and Chen, who had 362,000 behind, was put to the test.

He got up out of his chair to think things through. He then recited the action aloud, and then said, "Alright, I call."

Chen: {q-Hearts}{q-Spades}
Tollefson: {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}

Chen was excited to discover that he was ahead, and even more excited when his hand held up after the board ran out {5-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}. Chen chipped up to a million in chips on the hand, while Tollefson was left with just 40,000 and the blinds approaching.

Heather Schuchaskie Eliminated in 16th Place ($3,138)

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Heather Schuchaskie
Heather Schuchaskie

After Dustin Hargis opened for 40,000, Heather Schuchaskie shoved all in for 162,000 total. Hargis made the call and the cards were turned up.

Schuchaskie: {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs}
Hargis: {a-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}

"One time dealer," Schuchaskie requested, and the dealer obliged by flopping her a flush on the {3-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{7-Clubs} flop. "There we go," she said, though he excitement was only temporary as the dealer burned and turned the {J-Clubs} to give Hargis a bigger flush.

"Ugly," Schuchaskie said shaking her head. "Ugly as shit."

The {4-Spades} was put out on the river to officially send the last woman in the field home in 16th place.

Adam Lamphere Eliminated in 17th Place ($3,138)

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Adam Lamphere
Adam Lamphere

There will be no final table for Adam Lamphere. The runner-up the past two times the MSPT came to town, Lamphere began today the fifth-shortest stack. He got lucky to double when his Big Slick cracked aces, and he used those chips to make his way deep into the money. Alas, his run just came to an end courtesy of JC Chen.

It happened when Lamphere shoved all in preflop holding the {q-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} and Chen called him with {a-}{8-}. The flop paired Chen's eight, but it also contained two diamonds to give Lamphere a flush draw. A {8-} on the turn improved Chen to trips, while an {A-} on the river gave him a full house. Lamphere missed his flush and had to settle for 17th place. Still, that's three times the MSPT has come to FireKeepers and three times Lamphere has shown he's one of the best.

Sowers & Virant Fall

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

After Scott Sowers bowed out in 20th place in unknown action, Steve Virant followed him out the door in 19th.

Virant was on the bad end of a cooler when he picked up the {k-Hearts}{k-Spades} only to run it into the {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades} of Mark Johnson. The board ran out a clean {7-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} and that was all she wrote for Virant.

"Well, that hurt," he said before taking his leave.

Meanwhile, Kevin O'Connor was recently eliminated from the tournament in 18th place.

The Old Counterfeit

Level 21 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

We happened upon the action with around 120,000 in the pot and a flop of {j-Hearts}{2-Spades}{k-Clubs}. A raising war resulted in start-of-the-day chip leader Nick Perkins getting his last 151,000 in the middle, but he was behind JC Chen.

Chen: {k-Diamonds}{j-Spades}
Perkins: {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}

The {5-Diamonds} turn was of no consequence, but the {2-Hearts} river was. Perkins spiked two pair, and his aces and deuces ended up being bigger than Chen's kings and jacks. Chen celebrated not realizing he'd been counterfeited, but the rest of the table quickly brought it to his attention.

For Whom the Bell Tolls

Level 21 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Action folded to Dee Bell in the small blind and she moved her short stack all in, which Glen Henbest called from the big.

Henbest: {a-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}
Bell: {8-Spades}{6-Clubs}

"Well, I have live cards," Bell said optimistically. That was true, but she received no help on the {k-Hearts}{k-Spades}{3-Diamonds} flop. The {A-Spades} turn actually paired Henbest, which left Bell drawing dead. The meaningless {3-Hearts} was run out on the river for good measure, and then Bell took her leave in 21st place. That means Heather Schuchaskie is the last lady left in the field and the MSPT's last hope of crowning its first woman champ.

Au Revoir Pierre

Level 21 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Pierre Armster
Pierre Armster

A few hours ago, Pierre Armster was all in and at risk on the money bubble. He survived that hand and managed to grind his way to 22nd place.

In his final hand, the short-stacked Armster got his chips all in preflop against Mark Johnson.

Johnson: {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds}
Armster: {a-Hearts}{3-Hearts}

Armster had some kicker problems, and he'd receive no help as the board ran out {10-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{7-Clubs}. Armster will take home $2,462 for his efforts.
