Break!

Level 28 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante

The five players remaining are off on a 10-minute break with the end of Level 28 upon them.

Mark Hodge Eliminated in 6th Place ($18,820)

Level 28 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante
Mark Hodge
Mark Hodge

Mark Hodge shoved the small blind for his last 500,000 and Shaun Burnett made the call with {k-Diamonds}{q-Spades}.

Hodge held {10-Clubs}{8-Clubs} but picked up some flush draw outs on the {k-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{5-Clubs} flop. The {a-Hearts} gave him straight outs as well, but the {2-Hearts} was a brick, sending Hodge to the rail sixth.

As a consolation prize, Hodge did pick up enough MSPT Player of the Year points from this finish to overtake MSPT Pro Blake Bohn for the lead in that race.

Matt Alexander Eliminated in 7th Place ($15,056)

Level 28 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante

Matt Alexander

Matt Alexander made it 120,000 and Hamid Feiz called on the button. The blinds folded and the flop rolled out {k-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}.

Alexander checked and after Feiz bet 200,000, he pushed all in for close to 1 million chips. Feiz snap-called with {k-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} and was well in front of Alexander's {k-Spades}{6-Diamonds}.

Alexander said goodbye and good luck after the {q-Diamonds} turn and {6-Clubs} river.

Feiz Doubles

Level 28 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante

Hamid Feiz open shoved from under the gun plus one for 665,000. Matt Alexander called from the big blind with {8-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} and was a slight favorite over Feiz' {j-Clubs}{10-Clubs}.

However, the {q-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{4-Clubs} flop changed everything, as Feiz made his flush and cruised to the double up following the {a-Hearts} turn and {7-Diamonds} river.

Burnett Again!

Level 27 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

Shaun Burnett made it 100,000 and Matt Alexander defended his big blind.

The flop rolled out {8-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{q-Spades} and after an Alexander check, Burnett made it 200,000. Alexander check-raise shoved and Burnett called all in for his tournament life and 655,000 behind with the {q-Hearts}{10-Clubs}.

Alexander was on a flush draw with the {9-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} and although he picked up a pair when the {9-Spades} turn showed up, Burnett's bigger pair held after the {3-Hearts} river.

Burnett Produces a Double

Level 27 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

Mark Hodge made it 110,000 and Shaun Burnett pushed in one seat to his left for 215,000 total.

It folded back to Hodge and he called with the {k-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}. Burnett was in a race for his tournament life with {a-Hearts}{5-Hearts} and managed to find the double up after a {9-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{5-Spades}{10-Hearts}{2-Spades} board was revealed.

Marty Faldet Eliminated in 8th Place ($11,490)

Level 26 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante
Marty Faldet
Marty Faldet

Rich Alsup made it 100,000 from early position and Hamid Feiz called out of the small blind. Marty Faldet then shipped it in for some 300,000 from the big blind and after Alsup moved all in for heaps more, Feiz folded.

Faldet: {9-Clubs}{9-Spades}
Alsup; {4-Spades}{4-Hearts}

Faldet had it in good, but it did not last as the flop rolled out {k-Spades}{4-Clubs}{2-Clubs} giving Alsup a set.

The {6-Hearts} turn and {5-Clubs} river did nothing for Faldet and the start-of-day-2 chip leader bowed out eighth.
