Brunette Gets a Double
On the last hand of the previous level, Justin Brown was in early position and raised to 700. The player on his left called, as did the hijack before the next two players folded. Action was then on Bob Brunette, who called from the small blind. The big blind defended to take the tally up to five for postflop action, and the flop fell .
Action checked to the player on Brown's left, who bet 1,400. The hijack called to put action back onto Brunette, who check-raised to 3,000. Only the hijack called and action proceeded heads up to the turn , where Brunette fired out another 6,000. The hijack called.
The river came and Brunette checked.
"What do you have behind, plenty?" asked Brunette's opponent. Brunette moved his hands and shrugged a little before beginning to count his chips.
"Nine-point-four (thousand)," he responded. The hijack slid out a bet of more than that to put him all in, and he asked how much the bet was.
"More than you have," the hijack said. "I put you all in."
"I call," said Brunette.
