Welcome To Day 2 of the 2019 MSPT Wisconsin State Poker Championship $1,100 Main Event
Day 2 of the 2019 MSPT Wisconsin State Poker Championship $1,100 Main Event is upon us.
Six hundred and sixty entries took their shots at making it to this point across three starting flights over the last three days. Of those 660, 78 found their way to the end of play on their respective days and will return to Potawatomi Hotel & Casino Sunday as the field combines with their sights set on the first-place prize of $130,935.
Day 1a chip leader Paul Camby put 465,000 into a bag at the end of his evening, and nobody from the two subsequent flights was able to catch him. Igor Hot (452,000) looked like he could eclipse that figure on Day 1c, but play hit the hard stop once the field reached 12 percent on Saturday night more than one full level early. He finished just ahead of Miroslav Semanisin (440,500) for the evening, who comes into the day third in chips.
However, the field has recognizable faces from top to bottom, as players such as Nick Pupillo (250,000), Mike Shin (178,000), Aaron Johnson (157,000), John Sun (61,000), and Andy Tran (46,000) are dotted all over the leader board coming into the day.
The bubble is expected to burst quickly as 72 of the 78 returning players will make it into the money. However, Day 1c’s hard stop left 2:51 on the clock in Level 14 (1,500/3,000/3,000), meaning there will be a bit more time for short stacks to pick their spots than if the day had played to its scheduled conclusion.
Cards will be in the air at 11 a.m. local time with 40-minute levels until heads-up play is reached, at which point they will be reduced to 30 minutes in length. The tournament will play down to a winner today, and the final table will be live-streamed on MSPT’s website.
PokerNews will be providing updates on the action all day long as the path to victory unfolds. Don’t go anywhere.
