Adrian Buckley Bags Huge Chip Lead After Day 1a of MSPT Black Hawk Main Event
Day 1a of MSPT Bally’s Black Hawk $1,110 Main Event is in the books with ten players surviving the action.
Adrian Buckley was the high-flying chip leader at the end of the night as he bagged an astounding 620,000, nearly double the second largest stack. The Colorado native has $1.8 million in career tournament winnings and was a big chip stack for much of the day but he really took charge very late in the day in the final level as he found pocket aces that would hold at the right time vs the pocket queens of big stack Daniel Sandoval. Things would not be so bad for Sandoval however as he bagged a healthy 281,000 stack, which was good enough for third place at the end of the night for the winner of Event #1 of the series.
Wedged in between Buckley and Sandoval in the counts in second place with 330,000 was Billyray Gallegos who accumulated much of his stack in the final few levels of the night.
Other notable players who bagged include Anthony Martinez with 136,000, Joseph Crowley (118,000) and Ben Jensen also at 118,000. As well as Nick Werle who clung on by the skin of his teeth for much of the later levels and end with 71,000.
Several players entered the day but could not make it to the end, such as; Jared Ingles, Ricardo Eyzaguirre and Jay Yates.
Day 1a attracted 85 entries as the Colorado weather produced a heavy snow for much of the day and temperatures as low as 9 degrees. With weather expected to be clear skies and warmer, many players will opt to enter on Days 1b and 1c which will also begin at 12 noon on the upcoming two days where the field will look to join the ten survivors from Day 1a for Day 2 at 11 a.m. on Sunday January 30.
PokerNews will be back with the updates tomorrow to continue coverage of this Main Event.
