Brandon Kelzenberg Eliminated in 8th Place ($20,941)

Level 27 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante
Brandon Kelzenberg
Brandon Kelzenberg

Chan Pelton raised from late position and then called the 650,000 three-bet jam Brandon Kelzenberg made from the button.

Brandon Kelzenberg: {k-Diamonds}{q-Spades}
Chan Pelton: {5-Spades}{5-Diamonds}

Kelzenberg was behind holding two over cards and nothing changed after the {a-Spades}{8-Spades}{8-Diamonds} flop hit the felt.

The {10-Diamonds} turn made things interesting as it gave Kelzenberg more outs with a Broadway draw and brought more counterfeit options if an ace or ten were to come on the river.

Kelzenberg held at best 16 outs but the {7-Hearts} that fell on the river wasn't one of them and he departed in eighth place for $20,941.

Pelton Soars to the Top

Level 27 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante
Chan Pelton
Chan Pelton

Brandon Kelzenberg opened under the gun for 200,000 and was called by Ben Hanson from the hijack before Chan Pelton three-bet to 700,000 from the button.

Action folded back to Kelzenberg who four-bet to 1.7 million and Hanson quickly released his hand while Pelton jammed for 3,910,000.

Kelzenberg snap-called and the two players tabled their hands.

Chan Pelton: {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}
Brandon Kelzenberg: {8-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}

Pelton picked-up aces at the perfect time and the {q-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} runout secured his double-up, making him the new chip leader.

While PokerNews is here offering live updates for the $1,100 Main Event, wed be remiss if we didnt tell you about some of the side events that have taken place out over the past week for the Showdown Series here at Running Aces Casino.

In Event #4: $250 NLH Seniors (50+), 168 runners created a $33,600 prize pool that was paid out to the top 18 players.

Among those to cash but fall short of the final table were George Stanford (10th - $638), Dennis Stevermer (12th - $638), Bob Van Syckle (14th - $538), Dan Hendrickson (16th - $440), and Wayne Sonnetag (18th - $470).

In the end, it was Michael Winter who collected every chip in play to capture the MSPT Trophy, along with a $5,107 payday.

Joe Barnard Eliminated in 9th Place ($16,036)

Level 26 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante
Joe Barnard
Joe Barnard

John Pierce raised to 130,000 from middle position only to have Joe Barnard three-bet jam for 775,000 from the cutoff.

Action folded to Mark Sandness who four-bet over the top from the big blind getting isolation after Pierce mucked his hand.

Joe Barnard: {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}
Mark Sandness: {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}

Barnard was dominated and the {10-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{4-Hearts} flop paired Sandness' king while giving Barnard a Broadway draw.

Unfortunately for Barnard, neither the {6-Diamonds} turn nor the {5-Clubs} river changed a thing as he made his exit in ninth place for $16,036.

Warner Doubles Through Kelzenberg

Level 26 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante

There was heads-up action between Dan Warner from middle position and Brandon Kelzenberg from the button with a {q-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} board showing.

Warner was all in for 1,310,000 with 700,000 already in the middle and Kelzenberg called.

Dan Warner: {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds}
Brandon Kelzenberg: {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}

Warner was ahead after flopping top pair but had a sweat as Kelzenberg held the nut flush draw and a Broadway draw.

The {a-Clubs} fell on the turn pairing each player and luckily for Warner, he faded the river as the {2-Spades} secured his double-up.

Ron Olson
Ron Olson

After just receiving a double-up in the previous hand, Ronald Olson found himself all in preflop and was called by Brandon Kelzenberg once again.

Ronald Olson: {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}
Brandon Kelzenberg: {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}

Olson held the exact same hand he just double-up with but this time, Kelzenberg had him dominate and the {8-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{3-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds} runout ended his tournament in 10th place for $12,473.
