Aguiluz Out-Kicks Bekavac

Level 15 : Blinds 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

Dan Bekavac opened to 15,000 from under the gun and was called by Heroico Aguiluz in middle position and Rambo Halpern on the button. The flop came {k-Spades}{10-Hearts}{3-Hearts} and Bekavac continued with a bet of 20,000 which only Aguiluz called.

The turn brought the {j-Hearts} and Bekavac fired out another bet of 36,000. Aguiluz still called and the {3-Spades} paired the board on the river. Both players checked this time and Bekavac showed {k-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}. However, Aguiluz turned over {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} for a better kicker and took down the pot.

Piccioli Finds a Four on the Turn

Level 15 : Blinds 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

Bryan Piccioli raised it up from the hijack and Andres Garcia defended from the big blind. They were heads-up on the river with a completed board reading {k-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{k-Spades}.

Garcia checked to Piccioli who splashed in a bet of 40,000. Garcia counted his stack before he stuck in the necessary chips to call. Piccioli turned over {4-Spades}{4-Diamonds} for a full house and Garcia was left with just 20,000 chips. Unfortunately for him, he was unable to spin it up as he was eliminated on the next hand.

Aces for Reichard

Level 15 : Blinds 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

Joshua Reichard opened to 11,000 in middle position and was called by Scott Sisler in the small blind. The flop came {q-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} and Sisler check-called a bet from Reichard.

The turn brought the {3-Hearts} and Sisler led out with a bet of 20,000 this time. Reichard called and the {4-Spades} completed the board. Sisler tossed in another bet of 30,000 this time and Reichard quickly called. Sisler showed {q-Diamonds}{j-Spades} for a pair of queens but Reichard held {a-Spades}{a-Hearts} for an over pair.

Welcome Back to Day 2 of MSPT Venetian $1,100 Main Event

MSPT
MSPT

There will be 53 players returning to their seats for Day 2, the final day of the MSPT Venetian $1,100 Main Event. A total of 470 entries were recorded over the opening two starting flights and the remaining players will be battling it out for a big share of the $500,000 prizepool up for grabs.

Leading the way after an impressive performance on Day 1b is Cody Wiegmann who will be returning to a healthy stack of 800,000 chips. Wiegmann will be looking to notch his second career six-figure score with a win today but there is still plenty of work to do as many notable faces are nipping at his heels.

Not far off in second place is Scott Sisler who also came through the Day 1b field with 647,000 chips. The two players actually battled it out on the same table for the latter portion of Day 1b with Wiegmann getting the best of Sisler in one of the largest pots of the day. David Pham will round out the top three stacks when play resumes with 513,000 chips, the only other player with over 100 big blinds.

Some other notables to keep an eye on as the action unfolds include Dan Bekavac (404,000), Jeff Platt (321,000), Bryan Piccioli (304,000), and Stanley Lee (286,000). With such a deep field, it is still anyone's game and there is still a lot to be determined over the course of the next 12 hours.

The action is scheduled to resume at 11 a.m. local time with 29 minutes remaining in level 15. The blinds will continue at 3,000/5,000 and a 5,000 big blind ante. The levels will be 40 minutes in length throughout the tournament with a 15-minute break after every three levels and no dinner break. Each player has already locked up a min-cash worth $2,513 but everyone will be hoping to walk away with the first-place prize of $100,804.

The PokerNews live reporting team will be back on the tournament floor to bring you all of the live updates en route to crowning a new MSPT champion.
