Welcome to Triton Super High Roller Series Jeju; HKD $100,000 Short Deck Ante Only Begins Today
The exciting Triton Super High Roller Series is back, this time hitting the Island of Jeju in South Korea at the Landing Casino. Over the course of the last few years, Triton has put on some of the biggest, most exciting high roller events in Asia and Europe, and this stop will feature more of the same. Kicking off the series is the HKD $100,000 Short Deck Ante Only event which is likely to draw out some of the biggest names in poker.
The Triton Poker series was founded by Malaysian businessman Richard Yong in 2015 and aims to provide exclusive tournaments in some of the worlds most luxurious locations with much of the proceeds going to charitable causes. At the last stop in Budva, Montenegro, Phil Ivey conquered a field of 61 runners to take home the first place prize of HKD $4,700,000 or roughly $600,000 USD (It's worth noting that the buy-in for this event was HKD $250,000 though).

Montenegro also saw the likes of Jason Koon, Richard Yong, and Mikita Badziakouski all take home trophies as well with Badzikouski bringing home the bacon in the Main Event and Yong and Koon both take down side events, Koon winning the HKD $1,000,000 Short Deck tournament.
As a refresher course for the short deck poker rules, sometimes known as six-plus hold'em, the game runs very similarly to no-limit hold'em, with a few major changes. All twos, threes, fours, and fives are removed from the deck to start. Other than that, six-plus hold’em is played similarly to regular hold’em with two hole cards, five community cards, and four streets of betting — preflop, flop, turn, and river.
The other big difference for the game is in hand rankings. Since hand equities run a bit different in the game flushes play higher than full houses since there are only eight cards to make a flush opposed to 13. Also to note, aces can still play for a low straight, replacing the five, making ace-six-seven-eight-nine a straight as well.
This event features a no-blind, antes only structure, creating more action among the players as there is something to fight for in every pot. Players will start off with 100,000 chips and antes of 1,000 and a double ante on the button. Players will have a chance to reload twice for an extra 100,000 chips each time at any point on day 1. All levels will be 30 minutes on Day 1 with a 10-minute break after three levels and a 15-minute dinner break after nine levels. Day 1 will end after 9 levels have been played.
Action for this first event is set to begin at 4 p.m. KST with Day 1a of play. Live streams of the event will also be available on Twitch.tv as well.
