Welcome to the 2015 Unibet Open Cannes
The first out of two starting days of the popular 1,000 + 100 Unibet Open Main Event at the Casino Barriere de Cannes kicks off in about 30 minutes from now at 13:00 local time (CET). Tournament director John Scanlon instructed the dealers with the words "we want everyone to have a lot of fun" and that pretty much sums up the experience that the players can look forward to.
This is the third stop in season 7 with previous events at Copenhagen and the Celtic Park in Glasgow, furthermore Unibet is visiting the French Riviera for the third time as well. In 2014, Daniel Smith emerged victorious in an impressive field of 457 participants and Giuseppe Zarbo, Nicolas Le Floch and Alain Roy made said Final Table, too.
As far as the Main Event is concerned, everyone receives 30,000 chips at the start and a total of 10 levels of one hour each will be played with the late registration being open until the end of level four. There will be a split dinner break at the end of level six and before the start of the event, the screens already showed 128 players registered.
Some 230 hopefuls have won their entry through the online Satellites on the French and international client and Nataly Sopacuaperu of Unibet is hopeful that a new record can be set, the number to beat is 460 entries.
There will also be a live stream of the feature table available as well with French and English commentary while the PokerNews live reporting team will be here to bring you all key hands until a winner is crowned on Sunday.
