Soverel Wins Monster Pot Prior to the Break

Level 6 : 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

In the last hand before another 10-minute break, Phil Hellmuth opened to 7,000 from under the gun. Justin Young three-bet to 18,000 from the cutoff and Sam Soverel called from the big blind. Hellmuth used up a time extension before dramatically folding.

The flop came {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} and Soverel checked to Young who continued for 10,000. Soverel check-raised to 27,000 and Young stuck around to see the {6-Hearts} on the turn. Soverel fired another 35,000 and Young called again.

The river landed the {7-Hearts} and Soverel announced a bet of 88,000. Young used up a time extension which sparked a reaction from Hellmuth. "Wow! Two time extensions on level six. And one of them from me."

Young continued to think about his decision and eventually found a call. Soverel tabled {a-Spades}{k-Spades} for top two pair and Young was unable to beat it.
