A new variant introduced to the US Poker Open will crown its first champion today as Event #4: $10,000 Short Deck Hold'em, a tournament that began with 42 entrants, will see the final six retun to play down to a winner.

David Peters leads the pack with a hefty 5.45 million, but he faces some stiff competition in the form of Sean Winter, who had made final tables in four straight USPO events, and Stephen Chidwick, who won the opener event and is making his third final table appearance of the series.

Right now, Winter has 240 leaderboard points in the USPO High Roller race, which ties him for second place with Event #2: 410K PLO champ Jordan Cristos. Meanwhile, Chidwick is in the lead with 300 points and is looking to go back-to-back after becoming the 2018 US Poker Open Champion.

A prize pool of $420,000 is up for grabs, and all those returning for Day 2 are guaranteed a payout of at least $25,200. Of course, they are all aiming for the top prize of $151,200.
