Barry Hutter Leads 118 Remaining Players Into Day 2

Welcome back to Day 2 of the 2015 WinStar River Poker Series $2,500 Main Event. The remaining 118 players have all reached the money from the field of 1,164 entries. Although the payouts haven't been released to us yet, we do know that the $2.5 million guarantee was surpassed and there will be $1 million up top for the winner.

The man best positioned to claim that seven-figure first-place prize is Barry Hutter with 1.066 million in chips. Hutter failed to get anything going o Day 1a or 1b, but his Day 1c was one heck of a turbocharged ride. He has over 1.5 times his closest competitor, as no other player holds more than 700,000 in chips.

In second place is Aaron Clark with 672,000, and then Cord Garcia rounds out the top three with 642,000.

Other notables still remaining are James Mordue (566,000), Tommy Vedes (393,000), Marvin Rettenmaier (385,000), Upeshka De Silva (368,000), Zo Karim (327,500), Chris Tryba (262,000), Olivier Busquet (246,000), Clint Tolbert (220,500), David "ODB" Baker (144,500), and Maria Ho (125,000).

Of note, Tolbert is making his fifth cash in this event since the tournament first began in 2008. His first cash in the River Poker Series Main Event came in 2009 when he took 32nd for $11,200. In 2010 he had his best finish from the four previous cashes, placing sixth for $100,520. In 2011 he took 43rd for $5,962, and in 2012 he ended in 27th for $13,940.

The cards are scheduled to be in the air at 12 p.m. local time, and it appears as though the plan will be to play 10 levels before calling it quits. The levels from here on out have been increased to one hour in length.

Stay tuned to PokerNews.com for continued coverage as the tournament works its way down to a new $1 million champion.
