Green Over Deas

Level 27 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante

Johnny Deas checked from early position on {k-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{j-Spades}{2-Diamonds} and called 200,000 from Ricky Green in the cutoff. On the {3-Diamonds}, Deas checked and snap-called what sounded like 200,000 from Green. Green showed {k-Hearts}{j-Hearts} for top two and won the pot.

After the hand, Green said he announced 300,000. A number of players agreed, but just as many said they also thought they heard 200,000, as Deas claimed. In the end, the tournament supervisor went with 200,000 as that was what the dealer said he heard.

Perfect Flop for Banghart

Level 27 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante
Jeff Banghart
Jeff Banghart

Johnny Deas raised to 180,000 in middle position and Jeff Banghart re-raised to 600,000 in the big blind. With the action back on Deas, he made the call and the flop fell {q-Spades}{10-Clubs}{4-Spades}.

Banghart led out for 600,000 and Deas instantly raised all in. Banghart called just as quickly and was the player at risk for 1,620,000. Banghart turned over {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs} and was ahead of Deas' {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds}.

The turn was the {2-Clubs} and the river brought the {6-Hearts}, securing a full double up for Banghart.

Bray Doubles Through Banghart

Level 27 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante

Jeff Banghart opened for 125,000 in middle position and Matthew Bray three-bet to 325,000 on his left. Banghart called and they saw an {a-Spades}{7-Clubs}{8-Clubs} flop. Banghart check-called a small bet of 200,000. On the {j-Hearts} turn, Banghart checked and snap-called 500,000, leaving only 370,000 back in play. That went in on the {2-Spades} river on another check-call and Bray turned over {8-Spades}{8-Hearts} for a set.

Banghart mucked {a-Clubs}{3-Clubs}.

Deas and Green Battling for the Lead

Level 27 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante

Ricky Green raised to 125,000 in the cutoff and Matthew Bray three-bet to 390,000 out of the small blind. Green made the call to see a flop of {k-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{4-Spades}. Bray checked to Green who bet 400,000 and Bray quickly mucked his cards.

In the next hand, Green made it 125,000 to go again and was called by Jeff Banghart on his left and Johnny Deas in the big blind. The flop came {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{10-Spades} and the action checked around to the {6-Clubs} on the turn.

Deas checked again and Green tossed in a bet of 125,000. Banghart called and Deas check-raised to 775,000. Green asked for a count but elected to fold and Banghart did the same. Deas showed {k-Hearts}{j-Clubs} for trip jacks and Green announced that he folded aces.

Baranowski Doubles Through Pengelly

Level 27 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante

Jeff Banghart opened for 125,000 and got two callers. On the {k-Spades}{j-Clubs}{2-Clubs} flop, big blind Dean Baranowski shoved all in for about 800,000 and Banghart folded. Will Pengelly snap-called in the cutoff with {q-Clubs}{10-Clubs} for a massive draw, and Baranowski turned up {k-Diamonds}{j-Spades} for top two.

The board bricked off with the {q-Spades} and {7-Diamonds}.

"Two open-ended straight flush draws and we miss both?" Pengelly said in disbelief to his friend on the rail. "How?"

Early Antics from Deas

Level 27 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante

The action folded around to Will Pengelly in the small blind who raised to 125,000. Johnny Deas called from the big blind and the flop fell {j-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}. Pengelly continued for 150,000 and Deas made a quick call.

The {j-Spades} on the turn paired the board and Pengelly pushed in a bet of 250,000. Deas stood up from his chair and walked to the rail. As he came back to his seat, he splashed in a call. The {4-Spades} landed on the river and Pengelly checked this time. Deas stuck in a bet of around 600,000 and Pengelly quickly folded {q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} face up.

"What was that about?" Jeff Banghart asked from the other end of the table. "How many shots of espresso did you have this morning? You're wired!"

Brian Green Eliminated in 9th Place ($36,640)

Level 27 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante
Brian Green

Jeff Banghart opened for 125,000 early and Brian Green shoved on his left for about 550,000. Banghart got a rough count and announced a call.

Jeff Banghart: {8-Clubs}{7-Clubs}
Brian Green: {a-Spades}{10-Hearts}

Banghart had live cards and flopped a flush draw as {j-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{j-Hearts} hit. He locked it up on the {9-Clubs} turn, rendering the {q-Clubs} river meaningless.
