Today makes way for the final flights of the Women’s Winter Festival £400 Main Event, here in London. The last of three starting flights is expected to attract a final surge of hopefuls to the Hippodrome Casino for its 6 p.m. start time, all fighting for their place in the history of this inaugural event.

As Day 1a drew to a close last night, a total of 42 entries amassed by the conclusion of late registration, of which eight players bagged and tagged for the Day 2 restart on Saturday. But with both Day 1b and Day 1c happening in tandem today, the number of entrants is expected to swell.

It was Mary-Rose McCann who bagged the overall chip lead, taking through 351,000. McCann is nearly 100,000 chips in front of her nearest competitor Lisa Roberts, of the United States, who amassed an impressive 256,000.

Each player can enter a maximum of twice per flight with registration closing after Level 10. Each flight plays to 20% of the field. Day 2 will commence at the lowest finishing level among all Day 1 flights.

Today's schedule has a 20-minute break every four levels, as well as a 45-minute dinner break after Level 10.

Caitlyn Arnwine
Caitlyn Arnwine

The pot stood at around 8,000 with two players navigating a full board of 7?K?3?2?2?.

Caitlyn Arnwine, in the big blind, bet out 4,000. Natalie Wood-Stoddard, on the button, thought for some time before making the call.

Arnwine rolled over 6?6?, which was more than good enough to send Wood-Stoddard's cards into the muck.

Michelle Bricknell rasied to 1,400 from the hijack, Rachel Wong three-bet to 4,200 from the small blind and Bricknell called.

The 5?2?7? flop saw the Wong continue for 6,000. Bricknell immediately moved all in for around 25,000. Wong thought for some time before mucking A?J? face up.

As Bricknell raked in the pot she flashed A?J? to the table, later joking with Wong, saying "I'm not here to chop!".

Webley Had Already Folded the Winner

Level 6 : Blinds 300/600, 600 ante
Vanessa Webley
Vanessa Webley

Vanessa Webley raised to 1,200 from the cutoff, Grace Walsh called in the hijack, as did Natalie Wood-Stoddard, in the small blind.

The action checked to Walsh, who took the lead for 1,000 on the 9?3?Q? flop. Wood-Stoddard called and Webley folded.

The 7? turn and the 7? river checked to a showdown. Walsh tabled J?10? for a missed straight draw. Wood-Stoddard claimed this pot with K?10? for a superior king-high. Webley seemed surprised as she admitted she would have had the best hand at showdown.

Sophie Stubbs raised to 8,500 from under the gun. Marle Spragg, in the big blind, made the call.

Spragg checked at the sight of the K?J?J? flop. Stubbs bet out 6,500 and Spragg check-raised, moving all in for 28,500. Stubbs called.

Marle Spragg: Q?10? All in
Sophie Stubbs: A?A?

"That's not a good hand to see," announced Spragg as she found out an ace was no longer an out to a straight.

However, the 6? turn gave her a flush draw and the 9? river completed that draw, cracking aces to stay alive.

Yoko Okazaki: A?J?

Walsh was behind and the 8?4?J? flop only confirmed this. However, the 7? turn and 9? river landed to give Walsh and unlikely straight, keeping her alive.
