Bird is the Word, Quads Was the Hand

In a 5-card PLO hand, Joey 'Birdman' Boczek just doubled up, while knocking out an opponent. With a board of {q-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{6-Spades}, Boczek bet 48,000, his opponent, with not much more behind, moved all-in and Boczek snap-called.

Boczek tabled {7-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}, for a flopped set of nines while his opponent was drawing to running cubs with an open-ended straight draw. The turn was {9-Hearts} giving Birdman quads and the inconsequential {q-Hearts} on the river, gave Boczek the massive pot.

Event #21: $220 Dealer's Choice Starts at 8 p.m.

World Cup of Cards
World Cup of Cards

The nightcap for the World Cup of Cards is Event #21: $220 Dealer's Choice. This is a slightly bigger buy-in than the Dealer's Choice tournament earlier in the series. Dave Jeanneau-Cyr won the first Dealer's Choice event, which was a $110 buy-in. The Playground Poker Club Dealer's Choice works different than what you might be used to. The player on the button picks the game, from a variety of flop games (PLO,PLHE,NLHE,PLO5,Pineapple, Crazy Pineapple) and the next player on the button chooses again. Instead of playing an entire orbit, you play one hand of the chosen game before choosing again.

The players will start with 20,000 chips and play 20-minute levels. This is an eight-max tournament, which means there will only be eight players max at any table.

This is Event #21 of 28 events at the World Cup of Cards. The WCC is a month-long poker festival held at Playground Poker Club. PokerNews will be here throughout the festival, bringing you all the news, updates, and photos. Follow @pokernews on Twitter for live updates, Periscope broadcasts, and more.
