The participation on the second starting day of the 2015 partypoker World Poker Tour National Cyprus 2,000 Main Event was slightly lower than expected and the screens showed a total of 63 entries after nine 45-minute levels. Eleven of those would be generated through reentries, and Season 11 European Poker Tour Prague finalist Miltiadis Kyriakides bagged up the most chips among the 34 survivors with 159,60 in his stack. The Greek ran hot most of the day and dominated his table without much resistance.

Chino Rheem fired two bullets and busted on both of them, with the second one coming only a few minutes after picking the worst possible time to move all in. You see, he ran into Ara Melkistian's set of aces, and that was the end of the line for the former World Series of Poker November Niner and Epic Poker League champion. It was the second flopped set in a row that was fully paid off for Melkistian, and he finished in second place for Day 1b with 132,200 in chips.

Amir Ali Etemad Saeid had a roller-coaster day after cruising early on, then losing half his stack and doubling up on the penultimate hand of action. During yesterday's Day 1a, the Iranian ran kings into queens and aces to bust, and today's entry was rewarded with a finishing stack of 111,400 in chips.

Other big stacks include Alper Kostem (100,400), Jan Bendik (92,800), Andreas Christoforou (86,100), and Atanas Kavrakov (68,800). Bendik benefited from an early setup when he flopped the nut straight and his opponent flopped the weaker straight. Former PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Main Event champion Dimitar Danchev needed two bullets on Day 1b, but he got through with an average stack of 57,600.

With 41 players advancing from Day 1a and 34 from Day 1b, a total of 75 participants are returning to the tables. Day 2 will see the cards in the air at 1 p.m.local time on Sunday, Jan. 25, and late registration as well as the single reentry option will available until the end of the third level on Day 2. The event boasts a guaranteed prize pool of 300,000 and that amount is almost reached with 149 entries in total, the prize pool and payouts should likely be published during the second break on Day 2.

As always, the PokerNews Live Reporting team will provide all key hands on the way to crown yet another WPT National champion next Monday on the sunny island of Cyprus.
