Pecheur Doubles Through Papineau, Sow Folds the Winner

Level 26 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante
David Pecheur
David Pecheur

David Pecheur shoved 425,000 from under the gun and Mathieu Papineau called on the button. Kalidou Sow open-folded {6-Spades}{6-Hearts} in the big blind.

David Pecheur: {2-Spades}{2-Hearts}
Mathieu Papineau: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}

Instead of being dominated by Sow, Pecheur found himself in a coin flip situation instead and held up after the board came down {J-Spades}{J-Hearts}{5-Spades}{4-Hearts}{6-Clubs}, which would've given Sow a full house.

Yves Rolland Eliminated in 12th Place (75,000 / €6,856)

Level 26 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante
Yves Rolland
Yves Rolland

Yves Rolland was already the shortest stack in the break and dropped down even further to be left with just 225,000. He went all in and received a call from Jaouad Abida.

Yves Rolland: {8-Hearts}{8-Spades}
Jaouad Abida: {A-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}

The flop was {K-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{4-Hearts} to give Abida the lead with a pair of queens. The turn {J-Hearts} and river {5-Clubs} proved of no help to the Day 1a chipleader, who will have to settle for 12th place.

Mathieu Chevalier Eliminated in 13th Place (75,000 MAD / €6,856)

Level 25 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Mathieu Chevalier
Mathieu Chevalier

In a blind on blind battle, Tobias Peters raised from the small blind and a short-stack Mathieu Chevalier went all in for around 300,000. Peters wasn't going anywhere and quickly made the call.

Mathieu Chevalier: {Q-Spades}{J-Hearts}
Tobias Peters: {K-Spades}{10-Hearts}

The flop brought {K-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{8-Clubs} to give each player a pair. Neither {3-Clubs} turn nor {10-Clubs} river changed anything and Chevalier busted shortly before the break in 13th.

Miguel Couceiro Eliminated in 14th Place (62,000 MAD / €5,668)

Level 25 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Miguel Couceiro
Miguel Couceiro

In the first of two hands that led to Miguel Couceiro's demise, he and Mathieu Papineau got it both in and were all smiles when they revealed the same pair.

Miguel Couceiro: {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}
Mathieu Papineau: {10-Clubs}{10-Spades}

"Come on, no joke, just split pot please," Couceiro said. The sweat became very real though, as the flop appeared {7-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{2-Clubs}. The {J-Diamonds} on the turn was safe for Couceiro, but the {9-Clubs} on the river improved Papineau to an improbable flush.

The Portuguese had to fork over 760,000 of his chips to Papineau and was left with a mere 160,000. After folding his big blind, the next hand it was Jaouad Abida raised to 90,000 on the button, Couceiro shoved his final 110,000 from the small blind, Papineau called from the big blind and Abida could only call as well.

The {9-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{7-Hearts} flop got checked by both players. Papineau bet 105,000 on the {3-Clubs} turn and Abida open-folded {A-}{K-}.

Miguel Couceiro: {K-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}
Mathieu Papineau: {6-Clubs}{4-Clubs}

Papineau finished what he had started with yet another club flush and Couceiro was drawing dead, making the {5-Spades} river merely one for the statistics. He finished in 14th place and received 62,000 MAD.
