It has taken quite some time but we have finally lost another player; that dubious honor going to Joseph El Khoury.
The action folded to El Khoury in the cutoff and he moved all-in for a total of 1,225,000. Victor Paraschiv folded on the button but Marvin Rettenmaier instantly called and the cards were revealed.
El Khoury:
Rettenmaier:
Rettenmaier held the advantage and it stayed that way on a flop. The turn gave El Khoury some outs to a straight but the was not one of them and we are now down to four players in the main event.
Marvin Rettenmaier raised to 205,000 and Joseph El Khoury opted to called out of the big blind leaving himself around 1,100,000 behind.
Both players checked the flop and the turn, El Khoury then also checked the river but Rettenmaier bet 280,000. El Khoury called but was very displeased to see the German's .
All eyes are on Marvin Rettenmaier to see if he can set history on the World Poker Tour and win a back-to-back WPT trophy. While he may be an accomplished poker player, his talents certainly don't stop there. He and one of the gorgeous Royal Flush Girls, Sonia Yasmin Ali, got together for an acoustic duet while here in Cyprus.
With the blinds and antes now 50,000/100,000 with a running ante of 10,000, the average stack has plummeted to just under 20 big blinds and the players are essentially pushing or folding.
Each of the players — with the exception of Ran Azor — has been all-in at least once during the last orbit but nobody has been called yet. It is only a matter of time before one of these all-in bets gets called and whoever wins it will be in a dominant position to go on and take down this event.
Everyone bar Marvin Rettenmaier and Ran Azor is now below 20 big blinds so it's becoming incredibly tense on the final table. Victor Paraschiv min-raised the button but then quickly folded when the German shoved on him from the small blind.
