J.C. Alvarado Goes Out with Style

"I've been lectured by J.C.'s mom before about how I need to be more patient in tournaments," Steve O'Dwyer said as he mucked his hand pre-flop. Action moved to Dylan Collingwood, who opened for 3,000.

"Alright, let's do this," said J.C. Alvarado when it was his turn to act. "I call." He threw a matching 3,000 into the pot, leaving himself just 400 behind, much to the amusement of the table.

"You guys don't realize this is giving [big blind Sam] Stein more odds," Alvarado added with a grin.

"He already mucked," said Justin Young.

The rest of Alvarado's stack was in on a flop of {3-Spades} {Q-Hearts} {5-Spades}. His {K-Clubs} {6-Clubs} was in bad shape against Collingwood's {8-Clubs} {8-Spades}. The turn {4-Diamonds} gave Alvarado a better draw, but he was out of the tournament after the river {8-Hearts} gave Collingwood a completely unnecessary set.
