Owens Out 9th, Anderson Doubles Through Shorr, Hartmann Out 8th and More

Tony Hartmann - 8th Place
Tony Hartmann - 8th Place

Mark Owens Eliminated in 9th Place ($48,615) - 3:22 PM

Dave Sands opened to 44,000 from the hijack seat, and Shannon Shorr (small blind) and Mark Owens (big blind) both came along with the call. The three men took a flop of {4-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds} {5-Clubs}, and Shorr checked. Owens moved all in for a bit less than 200,000, quickly folding Sands out of the way. Shorr, however, was undeterred, and he announced the call to put Owens to the test.

Showdown
Shorr: {8-Clubs} {8-Spades}
Owens: {8-Hearts} {5-Hearts}

"I folded the king of spades," Sands said, and the table chucked at its irrelevance.

Owens was the only one not chuckling, clearly a bit nervous for his future in this event. He was looking for a five to double up or a seven to chop it up with a straight. The {6-Hearts} turn was close but not close enough, and the river {K-Hearts} was no help either. Unable to improve his second-best hand, Mark Owens has become the first casualty of this final table. He'll pocket close to $50,000 for his work over the past four days in addition to the ticket he's punched for the season-ending National Championship.

Anderson Shoves - 3:36 PM

Gabe Patgorski raised to 50,000 from middle position before action folded around to Jim Anderson in the small blind. He moved all in and won the pot.

Faster, Please - 3:40 PM

The tournament staff politely asked the players if they could act a little bit faster with every decision. After that happened, a few minute later Gabe Patgorski commented on how Dave "Doc" Sands takes a long time to act every time action is on him. Sands defended and said that he doesn't really take that long. The two went back and forth a tiny bit before it was squashed.

Patgorski Takes One - 3:44 PM

Shannon Shorr raised from the button to 50,000 and Gabe Patgorski called from the big blind. The flop came down {Q-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} and Patgorski checked. Shorr fired 65,000 and was called.

The turn went check, check after the {Q-Diamonds} paired the board. The river was the {5-Clubs} and both players checked again.

Patgorski announced a ten and showed the {10-Clubs}{9-Hearts}. Shorr mucked and Patgorski won the pot.

Anderson Doubles Through Shorr - 3:49 PM

Dave "Doc" Sands raised to 47,000 and then Jim Anderson moved all in for 343,000. Shannon Shorr needed a count and got it. He then reraised all in. Sands said, "Shannon, you have exactly ace-king offsuit," and folded. Shorr didn't have that, he had the {Q-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}. Anderson had better though with the {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}. Sands folded two nines.

The board ran out {K-Spades}{10-Spades}{5-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} and Anderson doubled through Shorr to over 750,000.

Tony Hartmann Eliminated in 8th Place ($60,952) - 3:51 PM

Tony Hartmann moved all in for 95,000 from middle position and action moved over to Gabe Patgorski on the button. He asked for a count, got it and then made the call. Everyone else folded and Patgorski showed the {A-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}. Hartmann held the {4-Spades}{2-Spades}.

The flop, turn and river ran out {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{7-Spades} and Hartmann was eliminated by the chip leader. He took home over $60,000 for his finish, leaving seven left at the table.

Three-Way Pot Goes to Shorr - 4:00 PM

Dave "Doc" Sands raised from the button and got called by Jim Anderson in the small blind and Shannon Shorr in the big blind to see the flop come down {9-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{4-Clubs}. Anderson checked and Shorr fired 71,000. Sands folded and Anderson followed suit.

Kohlberg Three-Bets - 4:03 PM

Jim Anderson raised to 45,000 from the button. Curt Kohlberg was in the big blind and announced a raise. He paused after his announcement before making it 145,000 to go. Anderson folded and Kohlberg won the pot.

From the hijack seat, Dave "Doc" Sands raised to 47,000. Jim Anderson reraised from the cutoff seat to 130,000 and won the pot.

Adams All In and Chops - 4:09 PM

Action moved over to Shannon Shorr in the cutoff seat. He raised to 50,000. Gabe Patgorski called from the small blind and Brandon Adams tank-called from the big blind.

The flop came down {A-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} and action was checked by all three players. The turn brought the {J-Hearts} and Patgorski fired 27,000. Adams moved all in for 111,000 and then Shorr made the call. Patgorski folded.

Adams: {A-Hearts}{5-Hearts}
Shorr: {A-Diamonds}{2-Spades}

The river completed the board with the {8-Diamonds} and the two players chopped up the pot. Although he didn't win the hand, Adams didn't lose either and stayed alive in the tournament.

Pair of Nines Good for Shorr - 4:16 PM

Shannon Shorr raised to 50,000 and Gabe Patgorski called on the button and in position. The two players saw the flop come down {9-Spades}{6-Hearts}{4-Hearts} and Shorr fired 77,000. Patgorski made the call.

Fourth street brought the {A-Clubs} and both players checked. The river completed the board with the {J-Diamonds} and both checked again.

Shorr's {Q-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} won the pot and Patgorski mucked.

Sands Belongs to the Shorr - 4:23 PM

Dave "Doc" Sands raised from the button to 47,000. Action moved to Shannon Shorr in the big blind and he reraised to 143,000. Sands took his time and got a count on Shorr's remaining stack. He then folded and Shorr won the pot.

Shorr Four-Bet Shoves - 4:33 PM

Action moved to Shannon Shorr in the cutoff seat and he raised to 50,000. Curt Kohlberg three-bet to 130,000 from the button. Brandon Adams tanked in the big blind and then folded before Shorr went into the tank. Eventually, he moved all in. Kohlberg mucked his hand and Shorr won the pot.

Welcome to the Final Table!

Almost time...
Almost time...

It's the most important day of the tournament, the day of the final table! Out of the 226 entrants who began this event, only nine remain. Heading the pack is Gabe Patgorski with well over two million in chips. The only other player over one million is Dave "Doc" Sands.

There's plenty of other firepower at this final table. We've got Shannon Shorr, Bernard Lee, Curt Kohlberg and Brandon Adams also here and the competition should be an amazing one. This is the first-ever $10,000 Regional Championship that the World Series of Poker Circuit has held and over $525,000 will go to the winner!

All nine finalists have already earned a place at the National Championship in Las Vegas coming at the end of the season and now it's time to go for as much cash as possible. Play will be underway shortly, stay tuned!

Seat 9: Brandon Adams (155,000)

Brandon Adams
Brandon Adams

Brandon Adams is a highly-accomplished writer, teacher, and professional poker player. As a teacher, Adams taught finance and macroeconomics courses at Harvard University for eight years. Since 2006, though, he's been traveling the live poker circuit, racking up cashes in a variety of events across all disciplines of poker.

He's amassed nine WSOP cashes during that time, including two final tables. One of those came in 2010 as Adams took 2nd place in the $10,000 Seven-card Stud World Championship. He also finished 16th in the $10,000 H.O.R.S.E. World Championship, proving his mettle as a mixed-game monster. As a Full Tilt Poker Red Pro, Adams can often be found playing cash games as high as $1,000/2,000 No-limit Hold'em.

He's looking for his first piece of WSOP jewelry here today, but he's still a long way from the ring. Adams begins the day on the short stack with 155,000, in need of an early rush.

Seat 8: Gabe Patgorski (2,263,000)

Gabe Patgorski
Gabe Patgorski

Say hello to your chip leader. Gabe Patgorski, 24, is a professional poker player from Chesapeake, Virginia. He graduated from UVA, and he spends his free time hosting a radio talk show and exploring business ventures.

In Patgorski's short poker career, he's racked up about $65,000 in earnings, a number which is likely to skyrocket today. He's been the chip leader for most of this tournament, and his massive 2.263-million-chip stack gives him more than a 2:1 lead over his closest challenger. Patgorski has two previous WSOP cashes, and this is his first at its baby sister WSOPC. Will it come with a ring at the end of the day?

Seat 7: Curt Kohlberg (863,000)

Curt Kohlberg
Curt Kohlberg

It seems like everywhere you look these days, Curt Kohlberg is cashing in a big-ticket tournament. His poker career has been earning him money since 1997, but his real splash came in 2003 when he took down a $5,000 tournament at the Festa al Lago in Las Vegas. He final tabled a WSOP event in 2008, and he was a small casher in this year's Main Event as well. In total, he has more than $1.3 million in earnings since 2003.

At age 52, Kohlberg is the senior member of this final table. When he's not cashing at the poker table, Kohlberg is the president of a consulting firm, and he spends as much time as he can with his wife and three children. And get this, he's a nationally-ranked squash player in the fairweather seasons as well. And when the snow comes, Kohlberg laces up his boots and goes... to the helipad for a little helicopter skiing. True story. He is a graduate of UMass and M.I.T., and he still makes his home in the Boston area.

Kohlberg has been near the top of the chip counts for two days now, and he begins this final day in third place with 863,000 chips. You may not know his name yet, but he might well prove to be the dark horse today at this talented and youthful table.
