Lutes Gains Some Ground

Travis Lutes limped from the small blind and Farid Nasserazad checked to see a flop of {K-Hearts}{A-Clubs}{9-Hearts}. Nasserazad led out for a bet of 100,000 and Nasserazad made the call.

When the {7-Hearts} hit the turn, Nasserazad bet 100,000, Lutes raised to 375,000, and Nasserazad mucked. Lutes increased his stack to 2.06 million while Nasserazad dropped to 3.55 million.

River Bet Takes It Down for Nasserazad

Farid Nasserazad limped in the small blind and Travis Lutes checked his option from the big. The flop came {Q-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} and Lutes checked. Nasserazad bet 70,000, Lutes called and the {7-Hearts} hit the turn.

Lutes check-called a 70,000 bet by Nasserazad and the {K-Hearts} appeared on the river. Lutes check-folded to Nasserazad's 270,000 bet, dropping to 1.8 million in the process. Nasserazad is up to 3.81 million.

Bob Talbot Eliminated in 3rd Place ($42,523)

Farid Nasserazad limped from the small blind and Bob Talbot checked his option from the big. The two saw a flop of {10-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} and Nasserazad check-called a bet of 85,000 from Talbot.

The dealer burned and turned the {Q-Clubs} and once again Nasserazad check-called a bet from Talbot, this time to the tune of 95,000. Nasserazad proceeded to check the {5-Clubs} on the river and Talbot moved all in for around 500,000. Nasserazad called and showed {A-Spades}{7-Spades} which was good enough to beat Talbot's {9-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}. Talbot was eliminated from the tournament in third place.

Jacks Abound

Travis Lutes raised to 65,000 from the small blind and Farid Nasserazad called from the big. The two watched the flop come down {7-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{J-Spades} and Lutes checked to Nasserazad, who bet 125,000. Lutes responded by check-raising to 275,000 and Nasserazad decided to just call.

When the {8-Spades} hit the turn, Lutes moved all in and Nasserazad folded, showing the {J-Diamonds}. Lutes kindly showed his {J-Clubs} as he took down the pot and increased his stack to 1.88 million. Nasserazad dropped to 2.74 million on the hand.

Jason Cluxton Eliminated in 4th Place ($31,295)

Bob Talbot moved all in for his last 447,000 from the cutoff and Jason Cluxton called all in for 444,000 from the small blind. Talbot then flipped over his {J-Diamonds}{J-Spades} prematurely since Farid Nasserazad had yet to act in the big blind. Nasserazad thought it over for a few moments but ended up folding.

Cluxton then showed his {A-Hearts}{A-Spades} and was in good shape to double up. However, he was clearly not pleased with the {10-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{9-Hearts} flop, which gave Talbot a bunch more outs. The {5-Diamonds} on the turn was not one of them and all Cluxton needed to do was avoid either an ace, queen or seven on the river. The dealer burned and put out the {Q-Clubs}! Talbot, who had his the straight, clapped his hands in celebration while Cluxton walked away from the stage in disappointment.

While Cluxton was eliminated from the tournament in fourth place, Talbot essentially doubled to 920,000. However, due to his card exposure, he was issued a two-round penalty.

Yair Alon Eliminated in 5th Place ($23,445)

Yair Alon was under the gun and raised to 72,000. Action folded all the way around to Travis Lutes in the small blind and he raised to around 300,000. Alon was not deterred and moved all in for right around 700,000. Lutes called and the cards were turned up:

Lutes: {A-Hearts}{K-Spades}
Alon: {A-Spades}{7-Clubs}

Lutes had Alon in bade shape as the flop fell {10-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds}. Both players hit a pair of aces but the king kicked of Lutes was best. Alon needed a seven to stay alive. The {Q-Diamonds} on the turn was not it and neither was the {J-Clubs} on the river. Alon was eliminated from the tournament in fifth place while Lutes chipped up to 1.6 million.
