The Buck Stops Here

Level 10 : 400/800, 100 ante

Did you know the dealer button in poker is also known as the "buck"? It's because players in the old days would use a deer antler to signify who was the dealer. As such, when you were passing the dealer button you were "passing the buck," which became synonymous with dodging responsibility. Another interesting fact is that U.S. President Harry S. Truman popularize the saying, "The buck stops here," as he had a sign with that saying hung in his office.

Anyway, the buck we're referencing in the title isn't the dealer button, it's a man named Buck Ramsay who just so happened to eliminated Aaron Massey.

It happened when Ramsay opened from early position and Massey, who was to his direct left, three-bet to 4,100. Action folded back to Ramsay, he four-bet it to 10,000, and Massey responded by moving all in for 33,300 more. When Ramsay asked for a count, a seemingly excited Massey shook his fist as if to say, "He didn't snap call!" Nonetheless, Ramsay made the call.

Ramsay: {J-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}
Massey: {A-Hearts}{K-Spades}

Massey's enthusiasm quickly dissipated upon seeing that he was behind. "Good game," Massey said before shaking Ramsay's hand after the board had run out {q-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{6-Spades}{7-Spades}. For the second time, Massey was eliminated from the tournament.
