The $1,700 Main Event is just one of a dozen gold ring events taking place at the Harrah’s Cherokee stop. For over a week, players have been competing for WSOP Circuit hardware and big chunks of prize money.

In Event #6: $600 Pot-Limit Omaha, a tournament that drew 229 entries and created a $117,935 prize pool, it was Nicholas Mandikos coming out on top to win $27,907 and his first gold ring.

“This is incredible, it’s surreal, “he told the media. “I’d Like to play more; I play when I can, I just play up here three times a year.”

Mandikos is truly a recreational player, so much so that he wasn’t even sure if he’d play any more events.

“We will see what happens, I will have to figure it out,” he said.
