Iris Angeleri Lays Claim to Her Second WSOP Circuit Gold Ring
While PokerNews is here offering live updates from the $1,700 Main Event, we’d be remiss if we didn’t tell you about the full schedule of side events that have been playing out over the past week at the World Series of Poker Circuit Harveys Lake Tahoe.
In Event #2: $400 No-Limit Hold’em, 196 entrants created a $64,680 prize pool that was paid out to the top 30 players including Scott Caldwell (10th - $1,074), Jed Hoffman (17th - $776), and Barry McKnight (27th - $578), just to name a few.
In the end, 32-year-old realtor Iris Angeleri bested Shawn Van Asdale in heads-up play to win the title, $15,947 in prize money, and he second gold ring. She previously won the 2013 WSOP Circuit Harveys Lake Tahoe Event #1: $365 NLH for $15,757.
Angeleri was cheered on by her husband, Robert, who has a gold ring himself.
“We’re always back and forth on who has the better record,” Angeleri said after the victory.“I play as much as I can here and there between work. I just try to study when I can and play online. I study as much as I can. Just blogs online, videos, YouTube and Instagram.”
