Gieles Has a Secret Admirer

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

There was an announcement that one of the players in the poker room had a secret admirer but no further information was provided. A few seconds later, a waiter came over with a bottle of champagne and a message to Luuk Gieles who read it and immediately knew it came from Tom Vogelsang. He decided to share the contents of the bottle with his table neighbor, Jonathan Abdellatif.

In the meantime, the board read {3-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{7-Spades}{a-Diamonds} with 9,000 in the middle.

Gieles bet 4,600 from the big blind and Gerry van Aalst made the call in the cutoff.

The river completed the board with the {a-Clubs}, Gieles fired a bet of 9,500 into the pot and Van Aalst called.

"Then you've probably have the best hand but I still want to see it," Gieles said before turning over {6-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}.

Van Aalst tabled {a-Spades}{j-Clubs} for trip aces indeed.

The dealer picked up Gieles' cards, looked at them with a bit of a disgusted face, and then put them into the muck.
