WSOPC #4: $800 Monster Stack No-Limit Hold'em
Day 1 Completed
Sihao "Mr_3rdBullet" Zhang honored his username on GGPoker as it took him three bullets to take WSOPC #4: $800 Monster Stack No-Limit Hold'em down for $140,472 by defeating "Andrew Xu" heads-up in a 1,395-strong field. The $1,000,000 guaranteed prize pool attracted 934 unique players who reentered 461 times to get to a total prize purse of $1,060,200.
This win here today takes Zhang to almost $500,000 in tournament winnings on just GGPoker and those results eclipse his live results according to The Hendon Mob as those accumulate to just over $42,000. Zhang started the final table with the chip lead after taking out Guillaume Nolet in tenth place and displayed an impressive performance to also close the tournament out with the win.

The day started with fewer than 300 players who could benefit from the Early Bird-feature during the bubble where they would be protected if they were to get eliminated. Many more players joined the field in the hours that followed and when the registration and reentry period closed, only 515 players out of 1,395 entries were left to battle it out for a spot in the top 233 as they would get paid at least $1,394.
It would take 75 minutes before it was time for the bubble. Daniel "Rock Pitbull" Bertoldi fell to Christian Jeppsson, Martin Pineiro busted to Arthur "meiiYunqi" Conan, but Pratik "shreeOHM" Patel would become the actual bubble boy when he shoved with aces on the deuce-jack-six flop with the nut-flush draw too. He was looked up by Jian "hangren" Shi who had flopped top pair and rivered two with the queen-jack in their hand. Pineiro was the only one who got his buy-in compensated as he was there before the start of the tournament.
The pace of eliminations didn't let up at all until the final table had been reached three hours after the bubble had burst. Many familiar names cashed but didn't make it through to the final nine. Players like Joaquin Melogno, Marc-Andre Ladouceur, Bert Stevens, Bryan Paris, Timo "omaha4lolz" Kamphues, Jans Arends, Joe "DietrichFats" Serock, Vincent "Peleus34" Li, and Erik "amourbri" Peters all busted before getting to that all-important last table.
Nolet ran his ace-queen into the tens of Zhang for the latter, Maicon "21_Pirlo" Gasperin, and "Promoking" to be the only players on the final table to have more than 20 big blinds to use. What followed was a bunch of double-ups of the short stacks but Zhang remained in the lead. It was Seungmook "7high" Jung who would be first to fall victim to Zhang at this stage. David "Edeskie" Cowling was next to go when he ran his ace-six into the ace-queen of "Promoking".
A few more double-ups later, "Kevin Pu" was gone thanks to Gasperin. But Zhang would then take out "Promoking" in sixth, "Pur3WiT" in fifth, and Wei Zhao in fourth place to take even bigger chips as he now held 60% of the chips in play. "Andrew Xu" was the shorter stack but first doubled through Zhang and again through Gasperin before the latter fell in third place to Zhang when he ran his ace-eight into the jack-seven of Zhang. The jack on the turn got the tournament to the heads-up stage.
The heads-up battle didn't last long as "Andrew Xu" picked up a few pots in a row without a turn card on the board before they called the three-bet shove of Zhang with pocket queens. Zhang held ace-eight to flop a pair and turn trips to claim the win in the end.
This concludes the coverage of this tournament but the PokerNews live reporting team will be back on Sunday, December 20 to bring you coverage of WSOPC #5: $600 Pot-Limit Omaha and Day 2 of WSOPC #6: $170 Mini Main Event, $2M Gtd. so make sure to return for all the action.
