The winners of six World Series of Poker Online Circuit Rings have now been determined during the 2020 GGPoker WSOP Winter Online Circuit. It took more than 11 hours to whittle down a field of 889 entries, including 527 unique players and 362 re-entries, to an eventual winner in Event #1,500 No-Limit Hold'em 6-Handed Championship. In a duel of players from South America, it was Brazil's Carlos "Wtfisthis" Henrique that came out on top after defeating Argentina's "EDUARDO1957" in a brief heads-up encounter.

Both took home the lion's share of the $1,266,825 prize pool which was shared among the top 143 finishers and an ICM deal was cut before the action resumed to determine the winner of the WSOP Circuit ring. Henrique earned the cherry on top of his $153,213 payday while "EDUARDO1957" can console themselves that they earned a slightly bigger slice worth $157,915.

Heading into the final table, "EDUARDO1957" had fewer than $5k in cashes to his name on GGPoker, while Henrique boasted more than $82k in cashes. Four known poker players were among the contenders on the final table including Luigi "shadinho94" Shehadeh, Aleksejs Ponakovs, Jon "Marklanders1" Garde, and Roland "Gwriden" Rokita but they were out of chips by the time the podium was reached.

The Action of the Day

The mid-week showdown on GGPoker attracted some of the biggest names of the online and live poker circuit, many of which took multiple shots at the action thanks to a maximum of three available re-entries. Among the big names that came and left without anything to show for were Stephen Chidwick, Thomas Muehloecker, Bert Stevens, Steven van Zadelhoff, Christian Rudolph, Andrey Pateychuk, Dario Sammartino, and Chris Moorman to name just a few.

Closer to the money bubble, notables such as Joakim Andersson, Bryan Paris, Sami Kelopuro, Ami Barer, Joseph Cheong, Timothy Adams, Shyngis Satubayev, and Byron Kaverman came up short. Recent 2020 WSOP $10,000 Main Event International Leg finalist Stoyan "UncleToni" Obreshkov missed the payouts by just three spots when pocket kings were no good.

Argentina's Matias "Pibeschorros" Scaffo ended up as the bubble boy and several dozen players then departed soon after. En route to the final five tables, well-known pros hit the rail including Ole Schemion, Daniel Dvoress, Juan Pardo, George Wolff, Ryan Riess, Brian Green, and Christian Jeppsson.

Brock Wilson and David Peters reached the last four tables and were joined on the rail only minutes later by Arkadiy "Kamsky" Tsinis, Simon "FiestaPagana" Mattsson, and Diego "TheProjector" Ventura. Canadian online poker streamer Alyssa "xAlyssaTTV" Macdonald was among the chip leaders in the early stages and her roller coaster ride ended in 18th place when ace-eight ran into ace-ten.

The event raced towards the nine-handed final table with Vincent "Peleus34" Li, Vladislav "imjuniar" Mezheritsky, Aki "Seabossss" Virtanen, and Giovanni "HEIZENBERG_G" Zanette all coming up short by a few spots.

Morocco resident Jon "Marklanders1" Garde led the final nine atop the leaderboard and "Mike Rossitto" became the first casualty, followed by Luigi "shadinho94" Shehadeh. The Italian hit a miracle chop once but could not do it a second time when he jammed jack-ten suited into pocket jacks. Aleksejs Ponakovs lost his first and only showdown hand on the final table and China's "HLXDERRRR" went from chip leader to 6th place finisher thereafter.

Garde and Roland "Gwriden" Rokita sent their chips to "EDUARDO1957" who also knocked out "Elcorneto" in second place. Nearly even in chips, the final duo cut an ICM deal and Carlos "Wtfisthis" Henrique pulled way ahead to then win a flip for the WSOP Circuit ring.

That wraps up today's coverage but the PokerNews team will provide live updates for each Ring Event until the end of the festival on GGPoker early in January 2021.

"EDUARDO1957" Eliminated in 2nd Place ($157,915)

Level 39 : 80,000/160,000, 20,000 ante
EDUARDO1957 Eliminated in 2nd Place
EDUARDO1957 Eliminated in 2nd Place

Ultimately, it was a classic flip that decided over the tournament life and winner as all the chips went in preflop between "EDUARDO1957" and "Wtfisthis".

"EDUARDO1957": {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts}
"Wtfisthis": {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}

If the pocket pair were to hold, the counts would have essentially been dead even again. However, the bad news came on the {k-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{2-Spades} flop as "Wtfisthis" improved to a pair of kings. The mandatory sweat followed on the {9-Diamonds} turn and a blank {7-Clubs} on the river brought an end to the tournament.

"EDUARDO1957" has been eliminated in 2nd place and receives $157,915 according to the ICM deal. For "Wtfisthis", a payday of $153,213 awaits and they also receive the coveted WSOP Online Circuit Ring.

A recap of today's action is to follow.

"Wtfisthis" Takes Commanding Lead

Level 39 : 80,000/160,000, 20,000 ante

"EDUARDO1957" made it 480,000 to go and was called by his opponent to face a check-raise to 800,000 by "Wtfisthis" on a {k-Hearts}{10-Spades}{9-Clubs} flop.

They checked the {9-Spades} turn and "EDUARDO1957" called a large bet on the {q-} river to win the pot with a jack-high straight.

Another big pot was brewing right after. "Wtfisthis" limp-called a raise to 604,400 and called a continuation bet worth 986,552 by "EDUARDO1957" on the {j-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{2-Hearts} flop. The {8-Spades} turn went check, check, and "EDUARDO1957" bet the {q-Spades} river for 1,585,305 to earn a quick call.

"EDUARDO1957" was bluffing with {a-Hearts}{3-Spades} and "Wtfisthis" took a commanding lead with {9-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} for a straight.

"EDUARDO1957" Pulls Ahead

Level 39 : 80,000/160,000, 20,000 ante

"EDUARDO1957" raised to 400,000 and picked up a call by "Wtfisthis". "EDUARDO1957" then check-raised the {10-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} flop from 554,400 to 1,920,000 which his opponent called.

The {a-Spades} fell on the turn and "EDUARDO1957" fired a bet of 2,720,000 to force a fold.

"Wtfisthis" pulled more than one million back soon after when they bet the {10-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{6-Clubs} flop for 790,000 and picked up a call, then bet the {q-Spades} turn for 851,400 and won the pot right there.

Heads-Up Continues With Deal in Place

Level 39 : 80,000/160,000, 20,000 ante

Once the two remaining contenders returned to their seat after the break, they looked into ICM numbers and agreed to a deal.

Below is what they have locked up:

"EDUARDO1957": $157,915
"Wtfisthis": $153,213

They will continue to play for the WSOP Online Circuit ring only, as all money has been chopped up.

"Wtfisthis" forfeited his option to raise the button and instead it was the far shortest stack "Elcorneto" who then jammed the small blind for 676,948. A snap-call by "EDUARDO1957" in the big blind followed and they held the superior hand.

"Elcorneto": {k-Clubs}{3-Hearts}
"EDUARDO1957": {k-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}

"Elcorneto picked up chop and straight outs until the {5-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{2-Spades}{4-Diamonds} turn but the {9-Spades} river was of no help to send them out in 3rd place for $101,812.

Roland "Gwriden" Rokita opened the action with a raise to 280,000 as the first player to act and "EDUARDO1957" three-bet to 980,000 in the small blind. Roskita responded with a four-bet shove for more than 3.6 million and "EDUARDO1957" quickly called.

Roland "Gwriden" Rokita: {k-Spades}{j-Spades}
"EDUARDO1957": {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds}

Neither player hit anything on the {6-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} board and that spelled the end for Rokita in 4th place, which comes with a payday of $77,235.
