WSOPC #7: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em 6-Handed Championship
Day 1 Completed
The winners of six World Series of Poker Online Circuit Rings have now been determined during the 2020 GGPoker WSOP Winter Online Circuit. It took more than 11 hours to whittle down a field of 889 entries, including 527 unique players and 362 re-entries, to an eventual winner in Event #1,500 No-Limit Hold'em 6-Handed Championship. In a duel of players from South America, it was Brazil's Carlos "Wtfisthis" Henrique that came out on top after defeating Argentina's "EDUARDO1957" in a brief heads-up encounter.
Both took home the lion's share of the $1,266,825 prize pool which was shared among the top 143 finishers and an ICM deal was cut before the action resumed to determine the winner of the WSOP Circuit ring. Henrique earned the cherry on top of his $153,213 payday while "EDUARDO1957" can console themselves that they earned a slightly bigger slice worth $157,915.
Heading into the final table, "EDUARDO1957" had fewer than $5k in cashes to his name on GGPoker, while Henrique boasted more than $82k in cashes. Four known poker players were among the contenders on the final table including Luigi "shadinho94" Shehadeh, Aleksejs Ponakovs, Jon "Marklanders1" Garde, and Roland "Gwriden" Rokita but they were out of chips by the time the podium was reached.

The mid-week showdown on GGPoker attracted some of the biggest names of the online and live poker circuit, many of which took multiple shots at the action thanks to a maximum of three available re-entries. Among the big names that came and left without anything to show for were Stephen Chidwick, Thomas Muehloecker, Bert Stevens, Steven van Zadelhoff, Christian Rudolph, Andrey Pateychuk, Dario Sammartino, and Chris Moorman to name just a few.
Closer to the money bubble, notables such as Joakim Andersson, Bryan Paris, Sami Kelopuro, Ami Barer, Joseph Cheong, Timothy Adams, Shyngis Satubayev, and Byron Kaverman came up short. Recent 2020 WSOP $10,000 Main Event International Leg finalist Stoyan "UncleToni" Obreshkov missed the payouts by just three spots when pocket kings were no good.
Argentina's Matias "Pibeschorros" Scaffo ended up as the bubble boy and several dozen players then departed soon after. En route to the final five tables, well-known pros hit the rail including Ole Schemion, Daniel Dvoress, Juan Pardo, George Wolff, Ryan Riess, Brian Green, and Christian Jeppsson.
Brock Wilson and David Peters reached the last four tables and were joined on the rail only minutes later by Arkadiy "Kamsky" Tsinis, Simon "FiestaPagana" Mattsson, and Diego "TheProjector" Ventura. Canadian online poker streamer Alyssa "xAlyssaTTV" Macdonald was among the chip leaders in the early stages and her roller coaster ride ended in 18th place when ace-eight ran into ace-ten.
The event raced towards the nine-handed final table with Vincent "Peleus34" Li, Vladislav "imjuniar" Mezheritsky, Aki "Seabossss" Virtanen, and Giovanni "HEIZENBERG_G" Zanette all coming up short by a few spots.
Morocco resident Jon "Marklanders1" Garde led the final nine atop the leaderboard and "Mike Rossitto" became the first casualty, followed by Luigi "shadinho94" Shehadeh. The Italian hit a miracle chop once but could not do it a second time when he jammed jack-ten suited into pocket jacks. Aleksejs Ponakovs lost his first and only showdown hand on the final table and China's "HLXDERRRR" went from chip leader to 6th place finisher thereafter.
Garde and Roland "Gwriden" Rokita sent their chips to "EDUARDO1957" who also knocked out "Elcorneto" in second place. Nearly even in chips, the final duo cut an ICM deal and Carlos "Wtfisthis" Henrique pulled way ahead to then win a flip for the WSOP Circuit ring.
That wraps up today's coverage but the PokerNews team will provide live updates for each Ring Event until the end of the festival on GGPoker early in January 2021.

"EDUARDO1957":
"Wtfisthis":

"EDUARDO1957" has been eliminated in 2nd place and receives $157,915 according to the ICM deal. For "Wtfisthis", a payday of $153,213 awaits and they also receive the coveted WSOP Online Circuit Ring.
