Estonia has earned the first victory during the 2020 GGPoker World Series of Poker (WSOP) Winter Online Circuit as Urmo Velvelt took down Event #9 $315 BOUNTY GIANT for $115,036 in cash and bounty prizes.

It was a giant field indeed as 4,852 total entries created a prize pool of $1,455,600, and Velvelt defeated Brazil's "Dexman1" in heads-up for his first WSOP Circuit Ring.

It was the far biggest recorded cash for Velvelt thus far who staged a comeback on the nine-handed final table, which he entered as the bottom stack with just 18 blinds. However, the Estonian steamrolled through the late stages in dominating fashion. That is particularly reflected by his PKO bounty portion of $56,726, which accounts for nearly half of the winnings.

The final table also featured "GROSZEK 5", Jerome "gorgiAAs" Finck, and Brian Green, among others.

The Action of the Day

If the opening minutes were any indication of things to come, they were spot on indeed. GGPoker ambassador Felipe Ramos had his queens cracked by king-queen in the very first hand and subsequently re-entered without having any major impact. Many others such as Aku Joentausta, Dara O'Kearney, Jack Salter, Daniel Dvoress, and Kenneth Smaron hit the rail much earlier than they were hoping for as the field raced towards the money bubble.

During the frantic registration period, the field was cut down to one third already and the only time there was no all-in and call for five minutes was during the scheduled breaks. The likes of Christian Rudolph, Chris Moorman, Rainer Kempe, Guillaume Nolet, Thomas Muehloecker, and Simon Lofberg all headed home without a portion of the cash pool.

Close to the money bubble, Grayson "TurdFerguson" Ramage ran ace-king into the aces of Johan "YoHViraL" Guilbert and a few minutes later it was Rafi "rafimo3110" Mordechai that came up short and bowed out in 585th place. He was one of several players that received their buy-in back as tournament dollars thanks to the GGPoker bubble protection for buy-ins below $1,000.

Dmitry Yurasov
Dmitry Yurasov bowed out on the final four tables

The pace of eliminations remained incredibly high and former big stacks such as Guilbert, Viktor Ustimov, Jens "Tankanza" Lakemeier, and Shawn Daniels all bowed out. "Dexman1" jumped into the top spot by quite a margin after first catching John "JBradley" Bradley bluffing twice and then knocking out Dmitry "Altbbb" Yurasov with aces versus ace-king on the final four tables.

Among the notables to come up short of the nine-handed final table were Andrei "Why@" Popugaev, Viktor "metallist353" Podofedenko, Tyler "TheRayGuy" Cornell, Roger Tondeur, and Michael "girfabanger7" Schmalnauer. The latter fell victim to the hot run of "GROSZEK 5", who entered the final table as only player above 100 big blinds.

Final Table Action

Urmo Velvelt was one of three players with a short stack but scored a double right away to then knock out "FlamurALB" a few hands later. Brian Green ran his queens into kings and ace-queen in three-way action to become the next casualty while "Yuratom" tripled up.

Jerome "gorgiAAs" Finck bluffed into the set of "Dexman1" and found no wheel on the river to fall in seventh, followed by "Kojaque" and "BornToFlip". Velvelt held the lead in four-handed play and "Yuratom" finished his ladder up in fourth when they lost a flip with jacks to the ace-queen of "Dexman1".

Velvelt was ultimately responsible for the final two eliminations. He won with eights against the sevens of "GROSZEK 5" and only needed nine hands to have "Dexman1" on the ropes below 10 blinds. However, "Dexman1" doubled five times in total to even regain the lead only to then come up short with an overpair of nines when Velvelt had turned trips sixes.

That wraps up the PokerNews live reporting for tonight but the next WSOPC Bounty Event already awaits in two days when WSOPC Event #11 $1,050 Bounty Hunters Championship will play down to a winner.

Urmo Velvelt raised it up to 2.4 million and "Dexman1" responded with a three-bet to 9.6 million, which resulted in a call by Velvelt.

The flop came {6-Hearts}{6-Spades}{4-Spades} and "Dexman1" continued for 6,454,800 to earn a call, which led them to the {3-Diamonds} turn. "Dexman1" now jammed for 29,439,456 and Velvelt beat them into the pot.

"Urmo Velvelt: {k-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}

Velvelt Straight Back Into the Lead

Level 48 : 600,000/1,200,000, 180,000 ante

"Dexman1" made it 2.4 million to go on the button and called a three-bet to 8.4 million by Urmo Velvelt.

On a flop of {j-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}, Velvelt continued for 4.8 million to pick up a call. Velvelt then checked the {9-Clubs} on the turn which prompted a bet worth 7.32 million by "Dexman1" and a call.

The {6-Spades} on the river was checked down and Velvelt's {7-Spades}{5-Spades} for the bottom end of the straight was good, "Dexman1" only had {10-Clubs}{9-Hearts} for two pair.

Urmo Velvelt regained a bigger lead with a nice bluff catcher when he called the {q-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{a-Diamonds} river for 5,224,800. His {9-Clubs}{5-Hearts} was only worth a pair of nines but "Dexman1" had bluffed the {10-Spades}{2-Hearts}.

Two hands later, "Dexman1" limped and called a raise to 4.2 million by Velvelt. The {6-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{3-Spades} flop brought a bet worth 2,890,800 by Velvelt and he was called. On the {6-Hearts} turn, Velvelt slowed down and check-called a bet for 7,561,632 to then check-call all-in on the {5-Spades} river.

"Dexman1" tabled the {j-Clubs}{5-Clubs} for fives full of sixes and Velvelt's {7-Hearts}{4-Clubs} for a flopped straight went down in flames.

Back and Forth

Level 48 : 600,000/1,200,000, 180,000 ante

Urmo Velvelt raised to 2.4 million and "Dexman1" stuck around to the {j-Spades}{5-Spades}{3-Diamonds} flop. One check-call for 1,702,800 by "Dexman1" was followed by another for 8,565,600 on the {7-Clubs} turn. "Dexman1" also checked the {6-Spades} river and folded when Velvelt bet the pot.

Two hands later, Velvelt limped in and called a raise to 4.2 million. "Dexman1" bet the {k-Spades}{6-Hearts}{2-Hearts} flop for 2.19 million and check-called the {6-Clubs} turn for 3.736 million. They checked the {6-Diamonds} river and Velvelt's {a-Spades}{4-Hearts} was no good versus {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}.

No Easy Going for Velvelt

Level 48 : 600,000/1,200,000, 180,000 ante

Urmo Velvelt defended the big blind against a min-raise and they checked the {4-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{2-Spades} flop. Velvelt bet the {7-Hearts} turn for 2.58 million and "Dexman1" called. The {10-Diamonds} river was checked and Velvelt won the pot with {q-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} versus {q-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}.

"Dexman1" had a river bet for 1,894,800 paid off with the board showing {8-Spades}{4-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} and their {4-Hearts}{3-Hearts} won versus {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}.

Veltvelt then faced a limp-shove and forfeited a raise to 4.2 million as the fierce heads-up encounter continued.

Another Two Doubles for "Dexman1"

Level 48 : 600,000/1,200,000, 180,000 ante

Urmo Velvelt raised it up on a {6-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{3-Spades} flop to send his opponent below the ten bigs once more and called the open-shove of "Dexman1" three hands later.

"Dexman1": {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}
Urmo Velvelt: {10-Hearts}{8-Clubs}

The board ran out {j-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} and "Dexman1" earned his third double.

Velvelt then limp-called a shove the very next hand to end up trailing once more.

"Dexman1": {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}
Urmo Velvelt: {k-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}

On a board of {a-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{4-Hearts} the turn provided trips aces and Velvelt had to concede a fourth double.

Another Double for "Dexman1"

Level 47 : 500,000/100,000, 150,000 ante

With sheer aggression, Urmo Velvelt pushed his opponent below 10 big blinds once more and then had the chance to seal it with {k-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} versus {k-Spades}{2-Diamonds}. However, the board ran out {a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{q-Spades} and they chopped.

In the next limped pot, Velvelt bet the {a-Hearts}{5-Spades}{2-Clubs} flop for the minimum and then check-called bets of 2,236,000 and 5,601,916 on the {10-Diamonds} turn and {8-Clubs} river respectively. "Dexman1" tabled {10-Hearts}{2-Hearts} for two pair and doubled through the {9-Spades}{5-Diamonds} of Velvelt.
