Brandon Smith Last Man Standing in Event #11: $400 No-Limit Hold’em One-Day

In Event #11: $400 No-Limit Hold’em One-Day, 219 runners generated a $72,270 prize pool that was distributed amongst the top 33 players. Among those to cash were Aaron Gamino (4th - $5,384), Walker Miskelly (8th - $1,818), Kip Jones (17th - $877), Gregory Skye (23rd - $704), and Tiffany Keathley (31st - $614).
In the end, 32-year-old Brandon Smith of Decatur, Alabama beat Kristi Garcia in heads-up play to win the title, a $16,971 top prize, and his first gold ring.
“I’m pretty pumped. I’ve just been playing online in my free time, I never play live, so I felt like it was kind of due. It’s probably the fourth or fifth event I’ve ever played,” Smith said after his win. “I grew up playing five and seven-card stud with my dad when I was five, six years old so I’ve been playing forever. But I’ve only started really trying in the last little bit.”
