"Bangshifu" Wins #1: $100 Super Circuit Kick-Of for $147,013 and First Ring of the Series

After less than nine hours of play, China's "Bangshifu" has emerged the winner of the first event in 2021 GGPoker WSOP Super Circuit Online Series. #1: $100 Super Circuit Kick-Off, $1M GTD saw 18,733 total entries across all Day 1s, putting the prize pool at a whopping $1,723,436. "Bangshifu" had to battle through 2,939 Day 2 runners to pocket the $147,013 and first Ring of the series.

The deal signs came out for the final three players almost as soon as play got three-ways. "Bangshifu" was the big stack and secured the biggest prize, and the deal meant that second place finisher Rodrigo "GhostBusters" Teixeira actually got paid less than "ssssssTOEOEOEN" in third because they were the short stack at deal time.

Action of the Day

It was a lightning-fast Day 2 for most of the day. The 18,793 entry Day 1 field was whittled down to 2,939 players with chips left to start Day 2, but there weren't that many for long. They were into the 1,900 money spots before the first break, and down to around 500 left by the second break. GGPoker Team Russia member Anatoly Filatov was one of the early casualties in the money, but he picked up $260 for his efforts.

Four hours into the day, they were down to around 100 players remaining and half that many by the next break. It took another two hours to play to the final nine players. Peter "MrDagobert" Traply bubbled the final table when his fours couldn't win a race against the ace-queen of second-place finisher Teixeira.

There were three quick eliminations to start the final table before they played six-handed for a bit. Finn Tuukka "Morr1Haisi0" Siren broke that stall when he ran his sevens into kings, and "Jimmy Buckets" quickly followed. They played four-handed for more than half an hour before the queen-four of "Bangshifu" got there against "D0G0fWAR" for fourth.

The final three players quickly made a deal to soften the pay jumps a bit, and just as quickly concluded things once the deal was made. Even though they were still playing for a WSOP Circuit Ring, it didn't take long for "Bangshifu" to eliminate both remaining players to take the first prize and the hardware.

Just a couple hands into heads up play, both players woke up to an ace and the money went in. Rodrigo "GhostBusters" Teixeira was on ace-deuce and a dog to "Bangshifu" with ace-six, but in decent for a chop. The board of {6-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{k-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} had no help for Teixeira and he was out in 2nd for $123,686.
