"PDC Mayor" had to make it through 1,438 Day 2 returnees to make it to the end, but they emerged victorious after about eight and half hours of play in #11: $400 COLOSSUS, $2.5M GTD. More than 10,000 runners through the Day 1 flights put the prize pool at $3,822,426, well over the $2.5 million guarantee.

They had to overcome a chip deficit to start heads up, but doubled to the lead after winning a race with ace-queen over jacks. They flip-flopped a few more times before it finally ended, and both players had chances to win it heads up.

The Day's Action

Day 2 of #11: $400 COLOSSUS, $2.5M GTD got going at 4:05 p.m. eastern time today with 1,438 returning players from the 10,166 total entries through the Day 1 flights. More than 10,000 entries meant they smashed the $2.5 million guarantee with almost $4 million in total prizes.

Only 1,100 of the returning players were set to get paid, and they were in the money before the first break of Day 2. Gavin Cochrane bubbled the money just after the start of Level 4, and action didn't slow down. At the first break, there were just 821 players left in action.

Dzmitry Urbanovich, Mikita Badziakouski, and Mike Leah all made stabs at big stacks after the first break, but none would find a way to the end game. Leah, the Canadian mixed-game specialist, made it the deepest, but ultimately fizzled out in 87th place for $4,875.

There were fewer than 100 players left at the third break of the day. Second place finisher "TooStonedMonkey" started to build a stack in this phase, sitting in second place as they moved below 50 left. They went on a tear, taking the chip lead for the final three tables.

They kept the chip lead into the final table Vince Cavailles ended his day in 10th on the final table bubble. "TheTraveller" was knocked off the final table in the first hand, but after that they played for more than half an hour before Dicky "Floatinworld" Tsang ended in 8th place.

"Sol1d" followed quickly in 7th when "PDC Mayor" took the chip lead when their pocket sevens held. "GotchEm", Javier "Marco_damme" Fernandez, and "1_2_3" quickly followed.

The final three players then made a deal that guaranteed more than $300,000 each, leaving only the ring to play for. "Clarky91" quickly lost a race to "TooStonedMonkey" to set up a flip-flop of a heads-up match.

Both "TooStonedMonkey" and "PDC Mayor" had chances to win, and both were all in for their lives, but it was finally "PDC Mayor" who took it down with the best ace and the biggest stack. After the deal, "Clarky91" took just over $300,000 for 3rd, "TooStonedMonkey" won the most money with more than $340,000 for 2nd, while "PDC Mayor" grabbed the Ring and $330,507 from the prize pool.
