After nearly 14 hours of play the curtain has fallen on Event #10: $300 Ladies Event here at the 2024 World Series of Poker Circuit Playground. After the dust had settled, Christine Davis was the last woman standing, last defeating Nancy Brett heads-up to take home her first WSOP circuit ring and the top prize of $9,335.

Davis entered the final table with the chip lead but her path to victory from there was far from easy. On several occasions during the final table Davis got the chips in with the best hand preflop only to be outdrawn on later streets. She was able to consistently battle back to the chip lead every time before ultimately prevailing over Brett in a lengthy heads-up match that lasted over one hour.

Action of the Day

The tenth of 15 circuit events attracted a field of 145 entrants to generate a prize pool of $35,525, smashing the $10,000 guarantee. Eventual runner up Brett got off to a good start today after cracking pocket aces with pocket kings to get an early double up. Florence Masset found herself among the chip leaders after getting max-value with the second nut-flush in another highlight midway through the day.

Danielle Rancy was the unfortunate soul to bust on the stone bubble after running into Denyse Mignault's pocket aces. From that point all remaining players were guaranteed at least a min-cash of $350 CAD. The eliminations were rapid-fire from that point, with Davis, Brett and Yongwei Gao scoring multiple eliminations each after the bubble had burst to enter the final table with the three biggest stacks.

The Final Table

Mignault entered the final table with a very short stack and was first to fall against Nathasha Tatta's ace-king. Mignault was followed out the door by Masset, Gao and Zerina Brenie in ninth, eighth and seventh place respectively.

Elisabetta Bertucci began the final table with the second-shortest stack but did a great job navigating the early stages of the final table to ladder up a few spots. She eventually busted in sixth place versus Davis who had turned a straight. Davis had a strong lead over the rest of the field at this point, with nearly double the chips of her next-closest competitor.

Stacey Sullivan

Stacey Sullivan had a roller coaster final table, finding herself down to just three big blinds after losing a massive flip to Davis. Sullivan began to mount an admirable comeback, doubling up twice before eliminating Laurie Willett-Turner in fifth place after a blind on blind confrontation. Brett put a stop to Sullivan's comeback after spiking a three-outer to claim most of her stack and Davis claimed the rest of it a few hands later. Natasha Tatta was next to fall in third place setting up heads-up play between Brett and Davis.

Davis entered the heads-up duel with close to a 2:1 chip lead but the match ended up being well over an hour with the chip lead changing multiple times over the course of the match. Brett doubled up to take the chip lead early, was gradually whittled back down to a short stack and then doubled up through Davis to take the chip lead for a second time over the course of the heads-up match. After a lengthy back and forth Brett finally ran into Davis' ace-king in a preflop battle that saw her left with ten big blinds. Davis got the rest of it with pocket nines shortly afterwards to take home $9,335 and her first WSOP circuit ring.

That concludes our coverage for this event but stay tuned to PokerNews for our continuing coverage of the 2024 World Series of Poker Playground.
