After nearly a month and 14 previous ring events, the 2020 GGPoker WSOP Online Super Circuit ends in grand style today with the final four chances to win a ring in this series, including two Main Events. The series is an online response to the unprecedented global pandemic that has closed live poker around the world. Rather than cancel the series, the World Series of Poker Circuit moved the series online to GGPoker with 18 ring events through the month of May.
The final Sunday features an opening Monster Stack event (already underway) as well as The Closer which gets going at 6pm Eastern time featuring a turbo format with eight minute blinds. The main focus on Sunday are the two Main Events. For fans of the four-card game, Event #16: PLO Main Event $1M Gtd gets underway at 3pm Eastern, but the marquee event today is the $1,000 Event #17: Main Event $5M Gtd.
Multiple Day 1 tournaments are feeding into Day 2 with several still underway to set the final field for Day 2. So far, across all completed Day 1s, 8,755 entries have been recorded for the Main Event, with 1,109 stacks still in play for the start of Day 2. That means the $5M guarantee was history ages ago, with the current total sitting at a massive $8,317,250. There are still three more Day 1 events to complete, so those numbers are sure to still increase.
Currently, the biggest stack in the event belongs to Canadian "picobyte" who will start Day 2 with more than 1.5M chips. "WhiteChick" from Singapore has already captured one ring in the recent Event #13: COLOSSUS $2M Gtd, and they are playing the second biggest stack to start Day 2 with just under 1.5M. Lester "mon$terDad" Edoc is also among the chip leaders for Day 2, bringing more than 1M into the final day. Among the other noted players with a spot in Day 2 already booked are "beninonline", "tepuseenFD", "FUTimReilly", "NikkyMouse", "Guo Dong", "Luiztforrest14", "Henri Buehler", "Boris Becker", Michiel "Easterdamnz" Van Elsacker, "Fedor Kruze", "Michael Soyza", "Sergey Rybachenko", Markus "_PrinzOfDTO_" Prinz, and Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier.
At the moment, there will be 1,124 place paid out, but that will change as more Day 1 events finish. One thing is for sure, the beginning of Day 2 will be a mad dash to the money. Payouts will start at more than $2,000, and right now, there's a whopping $1,185,721 up top for the Main Event champion. They'll play Day 2 with 15 minute blind levels all the way through to the final table, when they will switch to a format of 30 hands per level.
