In a battle of the blinds (Joe Sebok in the big), the small blind completed the bet and Sebok knuckled the table, opting for a cheap flop.
The first three cards off the deck were
. The small blind bet, Sebok raised, and the small blind called. The turn brought a King and both players checked.A seven fell on the river and the small blind took one last stab at the pot. Sebok made the call and flipped over 8-2 for nothing but bottom pair with an 8 kicker, which was good enough to take down the pot.
Joe happens to be sitting a few feet away from the PokerNews workstation and overheard me going over the hand with one of our reporters. "He won with 8-2? That's it?" I asked. Joe turned around and said, "I'm that good . . . what more do you want?" -- with a smile, of course.
After the hand, Joe's chip count stood at 36,000.
