Group Hug

After Jerry Yang won the hand against Hilm, he ran over to his wife and family and embraced them all in a group hug. Yang had already taken over the chiplead before that hand started. After he busted Hilm, Yang is up to 44.5 million. He has almost 1/3 of the chips in play.

Hand #15 - Philip Hilm Eliminated in 9th Place ($525,934)

Philip Hilm - 9th Place
Philip Hilm - 9th Place
Hand #15 - Tuan Lam has the button in seat 6, Jerry Yang raises from late position to 1 million, and Philip Hilm thinks for about a minute before he calls from the small blind.

The flop comes {K-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}, Hilm checks, Yang bets 2 million, and Hilm thinks for about 30 seconds before he calls. The turn card is the {2-Hearts}, Hilm checks, Yang bets 4 million, Hilm moves all in, and the crowd applauds as many of them rise to their feet.

Now it's Jerry Yang's turn to sweat a big decision. But he only thinks for about 30 seconds before he calls with {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades} for top pair, top kicker. Hilm shows {8-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} for a pair of fives with a flush draw. Hilm needs to improve to stay alive.

The crowd is shocked, but pleased to see an all-in situation. Moments before the river card is dealt, everyone falls silent.

The river card is the {6-Clubs}, and there is a smattering of applause as Jerry Yang wins the pot with a pair of kings.

Philip Hilm is eliminated in ninth place, earning $525,934. The next player eliminated will receive $585,699 for eighth place.

Hand #14 - Jerry Yang Takes an 11.39 Million Pot

Hand #14 - Lee Watkinson has the button in seat 5, Jerry Yang raises from the cutoff to 2.5 million, and Philip Hilm thinks for a few minutes before he calls from the big blind.

The flop comes {A-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{8-Spades}, Hilm checks, Yang bets 3 million, and Hilm thinks for about 30 seconds before he calls.

The turn card is the {3-Diamonds}, Hilm checks, Yang moves all in, and Hilm folds. Jerry Yang takes the pot worth 11.39 million, and he has become our new chipleader.

Note: Once again, Yang makes a very large opening raise. But that amount is correct. The big blind was 240,000, and Yang opened the pot for 2.5 million.

In the 38-year history of the World Series of Poker, only one lady made the Main Event final table. That was Barbara Enright in 1995. Dan Harrington won that year and also at the final table were Howard Goldfarb. Brent Carter, Hamid Dastmalchi, Chuck Thompson, 'Captain' Tom Franklin, Henry Orenstein, and Dolph Arnold.

Annie Duke bubbled off the final table in 10th place in 2000, the year that Chris "Jesus" Ferguson won the world championship.

Barbara Enright has won three bracelets and was inducted into the Hall of Fame this year.
