Hand #78 - Alex Kravchenko Doubles Through Jerry Yang

Alex Kravchenko
Alex Kravchenko
Hand #78 - Tuan Lam has the button in seat 6, Jerry Yang raises under the gun to 1.5 million, and Alex Kravchenko thinks for a bit before he stands up and moves all in. He stands behind his chips as if ready for battle. The dealer is counting down the chips to determine the size of the bet -- Kravchenko is all in for 9.05 million.

When the count is finished, Yang stands up and stares at Kravchenko. You can really see a different in their heights right now, and Kravchenko definitely has a menacing stare, and he seems to be about a foot and a half taller than Yang.

After about two minutes, Yang calls, showing {K-Spades}{Q-Hearts}. Kravchenko flips over {3-Clubs}{3-Spades}, and he needs it to hold up to stay alive.

In the crowd, Tuan Lam walks over to the rail, and his wife is extremely excited, even though her husband is not in the hand. She's clearly hoping that he'll move up one more spot in the money here.

The flop comes {8-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{2-Spades}, and the entire room erupts in applause as Kravchenko flops a set -- but Kravchenko himself stands motionless.

The meaningless last two cards are {5-Spades}{K-Diamonds} -- and Yang rivers a pair of kings, but it's too little, too late. Alex Kravchenko wins the pot with a set of threes, doubling up to 18.5 million. Jerry Yang drops down to 65.875 million.

David 'Devilfish' Ulliott shows up on stage, and he shakes Kravchenko's hand after the double up.
