Friedman Flush With Chips

We missed the preflop action, but arrived to see Perry Friedman all in against Eric Hicks with {A-Spades} {6-Spades} against Hicks' pocket jacks on a flop of {K-Spades} {8-Spades} {K-Clubs}. The turn {3-Spades} made a spade flush for Friedman, which held when the river came {A-Diamonds}.

Friedman now has 960,000 chips, while Hicks takes a big hit.

Kearney Hangs On

From the small blind, Matt Kearney open-raised to 175,000. He was quickly called by Jeff Wiedenhoeft in the big blind. Wiedenhoeft made a good call, as Kearney was stealing with {7-Spades} {4-Spades} and was far behind Kearney's {A-Clubs} {5-Clubs}. Neither player improved on the {9-Hearts} {J-Clubs} {8-Diamonds} flop or the {2-Spades} turn, but Kearney spiked the {4-Clubs} on the river to stay alive. He now has about 400,000.

Ferguson Doubles Again

Chris Ferguson refuses to depart this tournament. From middle position, Perry Friedman raised to 55,000 and put his sunglasses on. Ferguson, on the button, moved all in for 286,000. Friedman deliberated for about 20 seconds before making the call and got his chips in behind

Friedman: {A-Hearts} {10-Clubs}
Ferguson: {A-Spades} {J-Hearts}

The board ran out {K-Spades} {3-Diamonds} {9-Spades} {6-Hearts} {K-Clubs}. Ferguson is now at approximately 620,000 chips, while Friedman dips to about 350,000.

Theo Tran Shows Down the Nuts

Theo Tran raised to 65,000 from middle position and Joe Rutledge called from the small blind. The flop came down {A-Hearts} {A-Spades} {5-Hearts} and Rutledge checked. Tran bet 65,000 and got a quick call. The {3-Diamonds} on the turn prompted both men to check. The {2-Spades} on the river prompted Rutledge to slide out 100,000. Tran raised to 350,000 and Rutledge made a quick call. Tran tabled {A-Diamonds} {5-Clubs} for the full house and a surprised Rutledge flipped up {4-Diamonds} {4-Clubs} before mucking. Rutledge slips to 122,000 while Tran climbs near 1,500,000.

Ngo Chips Up

There's more action today than there was last night. This time, Mike Ngo raised to 65,000 from early position and found two customers: Grant Hinkle and Matt Kearney. On a flop of {K-Clubs} {9-Spades} {A-Spades}, Ngo instantly moved all in for about 440,000. Hinkle and Kearney folded just as quickly.

Ngo now has about 655,000 chips.

Enough Is Enough

It seems that the table is no longer willing to let Chris Ferguson play the table bully. Not normally known for super-aggressive play, Ferguson has raised the last two pots to 55,000. Both times, however, Ferguson was reraised and after a lengthy deliberation, gave up the hands.

Engerdahl Picks Up a Pot

Josh Engerdahl checked his option from the big blind after Grant Hinkle limped in from middle position. It was another big flop, {A-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs} {10-Hearts}. Engerdahl check-called a bet of 75,000 from Hinkle. Both players checked the {10-Spades} on the turn, bringing a river {9-Clubs}. With quiet deliberation, Engerdahl bet 150,000. Hinkle didn't think long before folding.

Frank Sinopoli Eliminated in 16th Place ($30,569)

Action folded to Melvin Jones who limped in from early position. When it got around to Aaron Coulthard in the small blind, he completed and Frank Sinopoli checked his big blind option. The flop came down {K-Clubs} {10-Clubs} {5-Clubs} . Coulthand led out for 35,000 and Sinopoli instantly declared all in. Jones quickly folded and Coulthard insta-called. The players showed:

Coulthard: {4-Clubs} {2-Clubs}
Sinopoli: {Q-Clubs} {3-Diamonds}

The turn and river came the {6-Hearts} and {10-Diamonds} respectively and Sinopoli was eliminated. He was clearly discouraged, but will pick up $30,569 to sooth his pain.

It's an early end to Brandon Blake's day. From under the gun, he raised to 55,000. Grant Hinkle, who had tangled with Blake just a few hands ago, called from the button.

Both players checked the {5-Hearts} {J-Clubs} {6-Diamonds} flop. When the turn came {3-Clubs}, Blake bet 200,000. Hinkle moved all in and Blake instantly called and table pocket fives for a set of fives. Hinkle turned his hand over to reveal pocket sixes for a set of sixes: set over set on the flop. The miracle one-outer didn't hit the river and Blake was eliminated. His payday is $30,569.
