Brunson Takes a Hit

Stud-8:

Todd Brunson and Jens Voertmann were involved in a pot heads up after 5th street.

Sixth Street:

Brunson: {10-Clubs} {Q-Hearts} {4-Clubs} {4-Diamonds}
Voertmann: {8-Clubs} {6-Diamonds} {Q-Spades} {8-Diamonds}

Voertmann checked into Brunson. Brunson had bet out on fifth and again he bet on sixth street. Voertmann makes the call.

Seventh Street

On seventh, Voertmann did a slight squeeze and bet out into Brunson. Brunson makes the call. Here is how the hands looked at showdown:

Brunson: ({10-Hearts} {5-Hearts} {7-Hearts}) {10-Clubs} {Q-Hearts} {4-Clubs} {4-Diamonds}
Voertmann: ({A-Diamonds} {A-Spades} {3-Diamonds}) {8-Clubs} {6-Diamonds} {Q-Spades} {8-Diamonds}

Voertmann's aces up were enough to scoop since there wasn't a low. After the pot, Brunson is down to 124,000 in chips.

Play Tightens

Play has been relatively tight of late on the first table, with Marcel Luske playing plenty of pots and controlling the table while Rostislav Tsodikov and Steve Zolotow have made up good ground today. Blair Rodman and Jens Voertmann are playing very snug, while Todd Brunson is now the short stack of the table.

Represent!

Todd Brunson
Todd Brunson
Stud:

Todd Brunson completed the bet showing the {K-Clubs} and Steve Zolotow raised showing the {8-Diamonds}. Brunson caught the {5-Hearts} on fourth while Zolotow caught the {5-Clubs}. Brunson checked and Zolotow bet out. On fifth, Brunson caught the {A-Diamonds}, while Zolotow caught the {Q-Clubs}. Brunson again checked and after Zolotow bet yet again, Brunson folded.

Zolotow then held up his two hole cards to show the table saying, "I actually represent!" Although we were unable to see his hole cards, the reaction from the players indicated he had {A-?} {A-?} in the hole.

Tsodikov Wins a Big Pot

Razz:

Rostislav Tsodikov and Marcel Luske was involved in a hand that was bet on every street by Tsodikov and called by Luske. On the river, Luske checked to Tsodikov who made a long sqeeze. He then proceeded to bet. Luske made the call.

Tsodikov: ({K-?} {A-?} {2-?}){3-?} {7-?} {5-?}{10-?}
Luske: ({3-?} {4-?} {J-?}){6-?} {5-?} {4-?} {9-?}

Luske's nine was no match for Tsodikov's seven. Tsodikov pulls the the 200,000 chip pot as Luske pats the table.

Players Feeling Each Other Out

For the most part, players are feeling each other out right now. While it is true that they have played together the last two days, we are now at the end-game stage of the tournament, and players are seeing where they stand at their tables in regard to being able to dictate the action. There haven't been many huge pots yet. The larger pots are right now tending to be in Omaha-8, but most have been chopped so far.

JJ Hazan Eliminated in 16th Place ($10,283)

JJ Hazan - 16th Place
JJ Hazan - 16th Place
Hold'em:

JJ Hazan opened with a raise before Hoyt Corkins reraised from the cutoff. Hazan moved the last of his chips into the middle and Corkins called.

Hazan: {3-Hearts}{3-Clubs}
Corkins: {J-Spades}{J-Clubs}

The board ran out {2-Spades}{9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{9-Spades} and Corkins made jacks full of nines to eliminate Hazan in 16th place for $10,283.

Phil Hellmuth Would Love this Table

Hold'em:

The last two pots have been won at showdown on table 15 with pocket nines (the hand with which Phil Hellmuth won the 1989 Main Event). First, Doug Ganger won a pot that was bet on every street with {9-Clubs} {9-Diamonds}, and then two hands later, Steve Zolotow picked off a bluff from Marcel Luske with {9-Clubs} {9-Spades}.

During the hands, players were ordering drinks. David Levi ordered some type of coffee with sugar. He made a point to tell the cocktail server to "make it quick," as he points to his short stack.
