One For The Italian

Pescatori sporting his country's colors
Pescatori sporting his country's colors
Omaha -

Play has been slow, really slow. On each hand, each player gives a good amount of thought to action and we've only seen a few hands per level.

On this hand, Greg Hurst raised from middle position to 27,000. Max Pescatori called on the button as did Jonathan Depa out of the small blind.

The flop came {K-Clubs} {10-Spades} {5-Diamonds} and the action checked around. Depa led out when the {8-Clubs} fell on the turn for 74,000. Hurst folded and Pescatori called.

The river was the {2-Hearts} and Depa checked. Pescatori bet 74,000 and that sent Depa into the tank for a long time. After a few minutes passed, Depa folded and Pescatori scooped the pot.

Kloeckner Increases

Hold'em -

Max Pescatori raised to 30,000 and Kyle Kloeckner called. Both players checked the flop when it came {K-Clubs} {K-Diamonds} {7-Clubs}.

On the turn of the {4-Diamonds}, Pescatori bet out 30,000 and Kloeckner called. The river was the {J-Spades} and this time Pescatori checked to his opponent. Kloeckner bet out 70,000 and Pescatori folded.

Greg Hurst Doubles

Hold'em -

Kyle Kloeckner raised to 30,000 from early position. Greg Hurst reraised all in for 100,000 total. Max Pescatori was in the big blind and flat called the 100,000. This sent Kloeckner into the tank for a few minutes.

Kloeckner finally folded and Pescatori turned up {A-Diamonds} {K-Diamonds} to Hurst's {J-Hearts} {J-Diamonds}.

The board was all low cards, but gave Pescatori a flush draw to go with his over cards on the turn... {8-Hearts} {3-Hearts} {2-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds}. But the river was the {J-Clubs} and Hurst was able to double up.

Kloeckner said he folded two queens to which Pescatori responded, "You would've lost."

Kyle Versus Kyle

Omaha -

Kyle Kloeckner raised to 25,000 from under the gun and only Kyle Hegeman made the call.

The flop came {10-Diamonds} {5-Hearts} {2-Spades} and both players checked. When the turn came the {A-Diamonds}, both players checked again.

On the river, the {A-Clubs}, Hegeman led into Kloeckner for 28,000. Kloeckner thought and then made the call. Hegeman announced that he had the wheel and took the pot with a straight, {A-?} {2-?} {3-?} {4-?} {5-?}.

Pescatori Takes One From Cunningham

Omaha -

The two biggest names at the table clashed on this hand. Kyle Kloeckner raised to 25,000 and Allen Cunningham called from the small blind as did Max Pescatori from the big blind.

The flop came {K-Clubs} {6-Hearts} {3-Clubs} and Cunningham led out for 50,000. Pescatori tanked for a few minutes before announcing that he raised the pot. Kloeckner folded. Cunningham asked him if he had more chips behind and Pescatori said he had about 20,000 left.

Cunningham showed the {A-Clubs} as he mucked and said, "I don't think it's coming."

The Story So Far

Play has switched back to Omaha, and with the exception of the two early elimination hands, play has been rather timid so far. The players appear to be feeling each other out to some extent. Allen Cunningham raised maybe seven or eight times in that half hour, making it 25,000 each time, and each time winning the blinds. Only once did he get played back at, when Kyle Hegeman reraised him to 75,000. Cunningham ducked out, flashing {A-?} {6-?}.

Besides Cunningham, Kloeckner has been the other active player. He, too, has put in numerous 25,000-chip raises and won the blinds each time. Lennart Holtkamp is the only other player, apart from those two, who has raised multiple pots. Each time he raises, he buries his head in his hands, elbows on the rail, defying the attempts of his tablemates to get a read on him.

It will be interesting to see how play develops in the next half hour of Omaha.

Minh Ly Eliminated in Eighth Place ($30,482)

Minh Ly - 7th place
Minh Ly - 7th place
Hold'em -

There's just not much you can do when you're blind all in. You just have to go with the cards you're dealt and hope lady luck is on your side.

Kyle Hegeman limped in from early position and then Allen Cunningham checked his option in the big blind with Minh Ly all in in the small blind.

The board came {9-Clubs} {6-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} {9-Spades} {8-Spades} and Cunningham and Hegeman checked it down the entire way. All three players showed king-high.

Ly: {K-?} {2-?}
Cunningham: {K-?} {5-?}
Hegeman: {K-?} {Q-?}

Hegeman's king-high with a queen kicker was good enough to take the pot and eliminate Ly in eighth place.

Minh Ly Crippled

Hold'em -

Jonathan Depa raised to 25,000. Action folded to Minh Ly in the big blind. Ly announced "pot" and reraised the pot. Depa moved all in and Ly called.

Depa: {A-Clubs} {K-Spades}
Ly: {J-Clubs} {J-Spades}

The door card was great to Depa on the {K-Diamonds} {5-Hearts} {5-Spades} flop. Ly needed to catch another jack to eliminate Depa.

The turn came another five, the {5-Clubs}. The river then came the {2-Spades} which wasn't what Ly was looking for. After some confusion on the chip stacks, Ly was left with only 4,000 chips and would be all in in the small blind next hand.
