A Pause

Now that the final eight have been reached, play has been paused so the Rio can have each of the players fill out a bio sheet. Immediately after players finish that, there will be another pause in order to move everyone's chips over to the final table area. Once all that is done, including a redraw, players will then be on an hour-long dinner break.

We'll post again as soon as the dinner break starts.

We weren't able to get all the action on the hand, but Phil Hellmuth held Q-J and flopped top pair on a board of Q-8-7. Phil butted heads with Jason Dollinger in the small blind, who held Q-8 for top two.

After losing the hand, Phil blew up in Phil style, pacing back and forth between the final table and media row. Phil threw his hands on his head and demanded to know why someone played so badly this close to the dinner break.

Phil's been pacing for a bit now, exchanging words with his father and mother about how badly Dollinger played that hand.

Now that we're down to the remaining nine players, the floor staff has decided to seat everyone at the same table and if the need arise, to use community cards during the stud variants. Once the final eight are reached, a redraw will occur.

Preflop, Victor Ramdin raised and Lonnie Heimowitz moved all-in. Victor called and showed {3-Hearts} {4-Hearts} {J-Diamonds} {J-Hearts} while Lonnie held {A-Hearts} {6-Diamonds} {7-Spades} {Q-Spades}.

Flop: {A-Diamonds} {K-Hearts} {Q-Hearts}

Lonnie managed to flop top and bottom pair, but Victor picked up a flush draw. The {10-Clubs} on the turn missed both players and also guaranteed there would be no low. The {5-Hearts} on the river gave Victor the flush and eliminated Lonnie from today's event.

A New Chip Leader Emerges

Tommy Hang, who took 3rd place in this year's $10,000 World Championship Limit Hold'em event, has just taken over the chip lead after surpassing the 500,000 mark. Top three chipleaders are as follows:

Tommy Hang: 510,000
James Schaaf: 410,000
Phil Hellmuth: 405,000

And oddly enough, Phil's not necessarily starring. As mentioned earlier, Phil's family has arrived and special seats were designated for his mother, father, and wife to be able to watch. Since then, two more spectators in his family have arrived and also been given seats. Most recently, the ESPN film crew has arrived to get some coverage of Phil as he continues to reign as chip leader. A final table in this event will put Hellmuth that much closer to getting a twelfth bracelet.

It should be noted, that while Phil may be slightly chatty at the table, he has been very calm and collected throughout the day. While everyone surrounding the event may be trying to give Phil all of their attention, he seems much more focused on the tournament than his surroundings.

Another Double Up for Lonnie

Lonnie Heimowitz has had yet another double up, this time during the hold'em round. Lonnie, who has been a shortstack for awhile now, continues to double up with this most recent one being his fifth. Still shortstack, Lonnie has only 40,000 but refuses to be eliminated.
