Scott Montgomery Wins a Massive Pot from Dennis Phillips

Ship it to Scott
Ship it to Scott
Dennis Phillips opened for 500,000, Scott Montgomery reraised to 2,200,000 and Phillips called. The flop was {J-Spades} {10-Spades} {6-Spades} Montgomery bet 1.5 million and Phillips called. The turn was the {K-Spades}. Phillips checked, Montgomery bet 2,000,000 and Phillips called. The river was the {9-Hearts}. Phillips checked and Montgomery bet 4,000,000.

(It's also worth noting that as Phillips tanked, the entire Chino Rheem-Joe Bishop all-in played out on the outer table, the crowd going nuts when Rheem hit a four on the river.)

After the commotion died down, Phillips made the call.

Montgomery showed {A-Spades} {10-Hearts} for the flush and dragged the monster pot worth over 15 million. Phillips took a 9.7 million hit on the hand and Montgomery is up to nearly 21,000,000.

Joe Bishop is Eliminated in 11th Place ($591,869)

Joe Bishop
Joe Bishop
After doubling up two opponents in a row, Joe Bishop moved all in for 2.4 million. Chino Rheem called from the big blind and showed {2-Hearts} {2-Clubs} to Bishop's {A-Clubs} {3-Hearts}.

The {A-Hearts} {3-Clubs} {5-Spades} flop looked to be a good one for Bishop as it gave him two pair. But it also gave Rheem a wheel draw, and after the {Q-Clubs} turned Bishop walked over the the rail, unable to watch, with an ESPN camera recording his reaction.

And that's when the dealer placed the {4-Hearts} on the felt. Rheem thrust his arms in the air in triumph as the crowd went crazy. Bishop leaned against the rail in resignation as his two pair failed to hold up and he was eliminated from the Main Event. We're now redrawing as all ten players will now be seated at the main ESPN TV table.

Kelly Kim Doubles Through Joe Bishop

Joe Bishop again raised it up, this time to 600,000 from the cutoff. Kelly Kim moved all in for his last 1.95 million and Bishop made the call. He held {8-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds} and found that he was in bad shape to Kelly's {8-Hearts} {8-Spades}. The {A-Diamonds} {10-Spades} {10-Clubs} on the flop brought some hope of a chop, the {7-Clubs} gave Bishop hope of running sevens, but the {2-Clubs} came on the river and Kelly doubled up.

Darus Suharto Doubles Through Joe Bishop

Darus Suharto
Darus Suharto
On the button Joe Bishop raised to 700,000 and Darus Suharto raised to 1.7 million from the big blind. Bishop called, and they saw a {Q-Clubs} {6-Hearts} {5-Diamonds} flop. Suharto bet out 2.5 million and Bishop moved all in for over 10 million. Bishop walked away from the table as Suharto thought it over, and eventually Suharto stood up and announced that he called.

He held {K-Hearts} {K-Clubs} to Bishop's {A-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} and Jim shook his head as he saw what he was up against. The board ran out {6-Clubs} {2-Spades} and Suharto doubled up.

The Last Three Hands: ESPN Feature Table

1. Peter Eastgate raised to 575,000, Scott Montgomery reraised to 2,000,000 from the small blind, and Eastgate folded.

2. Dean Hamrick completed the small blind and Peter Eastgate checked his option. The flop was {A-Spades} {7-Spades} {3-Diamonds} and both players checked. The turn was the {A-Diamonds} and they checked again. The river was the {9-Spades}. Hamrick checked, Eastgate bet 275,000, Hamrick folded and Eastgate won the pot.

3. Scott Montgomery raised to 600,000 from the cutoff and won the blinds and antes.

Ivan Demidov Survives and Doubles Through Chino Rheem

From the cutoff Ivan Demidov raised to 650,000 and Chino Rheem reraised to 2 million from the small blind. Demidov tanked for several minutes before announcing he was all in. And after thinking it over for a bit Rheem called as well.

And his {10-Diamonds} {10-Clubs} was better than Demidov's {9-Hearts} {9-Clubs}. As the fans ducked under the rails and pushed close for a better look, the dealer spread the flop -- {10-Hearts} {8-Hearts} {6-Hearts}. Rheem flopped a set, but Demidov now had a flush draw.

A draw that hit when the {4-Hearts} came on the turn. Now there were calls of "pair the board!!" from the crowd, and with scores of people jamming the stage the dealer flipped over the {5-Hearts} on the river. Demidov got out of his chair to accept the congratulations of his friends and Rheem bolted out of his seat and walked out of the Amazon Room. He's now down to 8.4 million, while Ivan is now up to 18.7 million.
