Boyd Narrowly Averts Scooping

Scott Clements raised from the button, and Daniel Alaei made the call. Ben Boyd reraised from the big blind, and both opponents called.

The flop came a dramatic {7-Spades} {8-Spades} {9-Spades}. Boyd bet out, and Clements raised. Alaei folded out, and Boyd thought for a moment before three-betting again. Clements also considered for a little longer than usual, then called.

The turn was the {K-Diamonds}, and Boyd moved all in for his final 100,000 even. Clements looked him up.

Showdown
Boyd: {A-Spades} {2-Spades} {8-Hearts} {J-Hearts}
Clements: {3-Clubs} {5-Diamonds} {5-Hearts} {6-Hearts}

Boyd had flopped the ace-high flush and had a lock on the high half. He was also a huge favorite for the low, holding the nut low as the cards lay. To Clements' delight though, a {2-?} spiked the river, and BigRiskky improved to the best low hand with his five-three playing.

Chop it up, and Boyd survives, though he seemed disappointed not to scoop there.

Alaei Edging Ever Closer

Scott Clements raised from the SB and Daniel Alaei called from the BB before the flop came {Q-Diamonds} {4-Hearts} {10-Spades}. Clements bet out and Alaei called to see the {A-Hearts} turn. Clements checked this time and called Alaei's bet. The river saw Clements check call once more but he mucked upon seeing Alaei's {A-?} {K-?} {Q-Hearts} {5-Hearts} for a flush and a scooped pot.

Boyd Gets One

Ben Boyd raised and both players called to see a {7-Clubs} {9-Hearts} {4-Spades} flop. Scott Clements led out and only Boyd called before we head to a {8-Spades} turn. Clements checked this time and called a bet from Boyd. They both check the {8-Diamonds} river.

Boyd scoops with {7-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds} {3-Hearts} {2-Hearts} as Clements' {5-Hearts} {5-Diamonds} {2-Clubs} {2-Spades} no good here.

Daniel Negreanu Eliminated in 4th Place ($130,401)

Daniel Negreanu - 4th Place
Daniel Negreanu - 4th Place
Scott Clements raised from under the gun, and Negreanu talked himself into calling from the big blind. "All right. I gotta call. Only because it's Scott, I gotta call."

The flop came {3-Spades} {4-Hearts} {4-Clubs}, and Negreau moved all in for his last 40,000. Clements called.

Showdown
Clements: {2-Spades} {3-Clubs} {5-Spades} {5-Clubs}
Negreanu: {2-Hearts} {4-Diamonds} {9-Spades} {10-Hearts}

Negreanu was ahead with his trip fours, but the hand wasn't over yet. Disastrously, the {A-Spades} hit fourth street, improving Clements to the wheel and leaving Negreanu drawing to a pair to make a full house. The {J-Spades} that hit the river was a blank, and Daniel Negreanu has been sent out in 5th place.

Negreanu put up a stunning battle today, and we can't even begin to count how many times he was all in. Negreanu's jovial nature led him far here in Event #18, and he'll take home nearly $135,000 for his work, adding another final-table notch to his belt.

The Negreanu Show

An almost repeat of the last hand saw Daniel Negreanu all in against all three of his opponents. They checked it all the way down to leave us with a {10-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} {6-Clubs} {6-Diamonds} {5-Spades} board. Wouldn't you know it Negreanu scoops the lot with {A-?} {Q-?} {J-?} {2-?}.

The very next hand he got it all in again, this time heads up with Scott Clements on a {10-Clubs} {J-Hearts} {4-Hearts} {7-Diamonds} board.

Clements {A-?} {7-?} {3-?} {5-?}
Negreanu {J-?} {10-?} {9-?} {8-?}

Negreanu with the nut straight but Clements had a low draw as we saw the {Q-?} river. That'll do it for Negreanu and he doubles up.
