Somerville Cripples Margolis

Andrew Margolis
Andrew Margolis
Andrew Margolis raised to 80,000 to open from the button. Jason Somerville was unimpressed and moved all in for a total of 435,000. With little delay, Margolis called. These two men had been taking jabs at each other all day, and this was finally the big confrontation they were both building up to.

Showdown
Margolis: {10-Diamonds} {10-Clubs}
Somerville: {K-Hearts} {J-Hearts}

The flop would be a disaster for Margolis, coming out {9-Spades} {J-Diamonds} {A-Clubs}. There was a deafening roar from Somerville's cheerleaders as he had taken a big lead in the hand. The turn {K-Spades} and the river {9-Hearts} filled out the board, locking up a big double up for Somerville.

After that exchange, Margolis is all the way down to 320,000, while Somerville is back in the mix with nearly 1.2 million.

Margolis Gets a Few Back

Jeffrey Carris watched it fold around to his small blind, and he raised it up to 75,000. Andrew Margolis called from the big blind, and it was off to the flop.

It showed up {10-Clubs} {3-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds}. Carris continued out with a bet of 80,000, which Margolis called. On fourth street, the {6-Clubs} drew a check from Carris. Margolis took the opportunity to bet 140,000 of his own chips, and Carris let his hand go.

Chip Leaders Tangle; Carris Comes Out on Top

Under the gun, Jeffrey Carris opened with a raise to 85,000. Next door, Andrew Margolis reraised to 140,000. Carris called, heads up to the flop.

It came out {9-Diamonds} {5-Spades} {6-Spades}, and both players checked. On fourth street, the {10-Hearts} hit the board and brought action. Carris led out with a bet of 200,000. Margolis stared him up and down before making the call.

The last card off was the {3-Diamonds}. Carris loaded the gun with 440,000 chips and slid them neatly into the middle of the table. Margolis went deep into the tank, cutting out the calling chips from his stack to get an idea of the cost of making the call. After several minutes of debate, he quietly said, "I call," and pushed his chips forward.

Carris tabled {7-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} for the nuts, flopping the straight right out of the chute. There was nothing Margolis could show to beat that, and he lowered his head and returned his cards to the dealer face-down.

After that exchange, Margolis is down to about 750,000, while Carris has taken control of this table, sitting with a massive 2,460,000 chips.

Chris Moore Gives Up Valuable Chips

Chris Moore is the short stack, and he's getting shorter.

After raising to 75,000 from the small blind, Moore gave up his hand in the face of a 500,000 reraise put in by Jeff Carris from the big blind.

Moore has just 360,000 left.

Raise, ReRaise, ReRaise

One thing's for sure - the players at this table are willing to build big pots before the flop.

When Jason Somerville raised to 62,000 from the cutoff, Chris Moore stepped up and reraised to 150,000 from the button. Not to be outdone, Jeff Carris upped the ante again, making it 400,000 to play from the small blind.

That was enough though, as everyone folded behind him, giving him a nice pot.

Joseph Cutler Eliminated in 5th Place ($56,440)

Joseph Cutler
Joseph Cutler
Andrew Margolis has claimed another victim.

When Joseph Cutler raised to 50,000, Margolis reraised to 142,000. Cutler three-bet, pushing all in for 528,000 more, and Margolis called.

Cutler: {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}
Margolis: {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}

The flop of {8-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{3-Spades} didn't change a thing, and both players improved when the {A-Hearts} fell on fourth street. The {3-Diamonds} on the river ended the drama though, sending Cutler home in fifth place with $56,440 in his pocket.

Margolis Gives Up Some More Chips

Joseph Cutler raised to 50,000 and Andrew Margolis called from the big blind.

Both players checked the flop of {3-Spades}{7-Spades}{9-Clubs} and Margolis led for 65,000 when the {3-Clubs} came on fourth street. Cuter called and both players checked the {7-Diamonds} on the river.

When the hands were turned over, neither player had connected, but Cutler's {K-Clubs}{2-Clubs} was enough to take down Margolis' {Q-?}{10-?}.

Somerville Takes Another Piece of Margolis

Andrew Margolis made it 61,000 from the button and got called by both blinds.

On a flop of {5-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}, action checked to Margolis who bet 120,000 more. Somerville check-raised all in for an additional 567,000 and Margolis went deep into the tank before finally mucking his hand.

Somerville is now up to 1,020,000.
